Chapter 18: When MDS Strikes

Mia's POV

It's been a week.

And now, I'm staring blankly at the food in front of me.

I sighed.

Isang linggo na ring hindi nagpaparamdam si Gabriel. At isang linggo na rin akong may supply ng breakfast at kung anu-anong padala nya dito sa office ko.

But he never showed his face to me. And I realized, nakakamiss din pala ang kakulitan nya.

To be honest, I'm getting used to his antics and 'moves'. I couldn't hide the giddiness I feel whenever he's 'courting' me. When we were still together, never kong naranasan ang maligawan nya. Ang bigyan nya ng effort at maging expressive sa feelings nya para sakin.

I was interrupted with my thoughts when the intercom, beeped.

"Yes, Erika?"

"Ma'am, I just want to remind you about your meeting with the finace managers and supervisors. It'll be in 15 minutes from now." she said politely.

"Ah yes. Is the meeting room already prepared?"

"Yes Ma'am. They're all there as we speak."

"Alright. I'll be there in a minute. Tell Jon to prepare this month and last month's financial reports. Thank you."

"Ok Ma'am."

Ugh. Braving another meeting. This will be a long day, indeed. Matapos lang talaga si Marco, magtuturo na lang ako. Aanhin ko 'tong malaking sweldo kung mamamatay naman ako sa stress at pressure.

"Can anyone explain to me why we have lavish overspending on our support cost?" I seriously asked upon seeing the financial report.

"Ma'am, the overspending is caused by our acquisition of 2 new printers and 10 additional laptops in replacement with depreciated units."

My brows knotted. "Who did the approval of these? The last time I checked, there's no such Purchase Orders handed to me, Jon."

"Ummm. The cost didn't reach 1 million Ma'am. That's why, per approval matrix, it is only up to the comptroller." he further explained.

But that didn't convince me. "But did you propose that to me? Allen, you know that it is not part of the budget for the month, why do we have such acquisitions, more like, ni wala akong approval? Yes, might be lower 1M, but didn't you bear this in mind that this is not included in the budget, so ask VP if it is ok? At isa pa? Is this really urgent? I mean hindi na ba usable ang laptops for replacement? Who will use those units? Anong department ang pinalitan ng printer? Where are the details of it?"

Silence. Everyone was looking away from my gaze.

Yes. I am mad. Sakit na 'to ng kumpanya. Chief Accountant pa lang ako, ito na ang inaatungal ko kay Mr. Manzano. Basta na lang ang approval at pag bili.

"Allen."

"Y-Yes Ma' am."

"Revise the approval matrix. I'll propose changes to the board. Will Friday be ok as your deadline?"

She looked at the calendar on the wall, and nodded.

"Yes Ma'am."

"Friday, 9am. Ok?"

She nodded and took note.

"Jon, I want to personally inspect the purchases, after lunch. Call the procurement to prepare the documents that I need — purhase order, delivery receipt, supplier's info and contract, receiving reports etc."
