Sarah and I snuck up the stairs in the house to her room and when the door slammed shut, Sarah locked the door behind us and we put the bags and the dresses on her bed.

»First we're going to do your hair« Sarah said, holding her chair out to the table for me and turning on the curling iron.

We had looked up hairstyles on the internet a few weeks ago until we found one we both loved.

Curly hair and single strands were braided together with daisies, that was our inspiration for my hairstyle.

»Tell me what the reason was that you just laid in bed for three days and almost looked like a ghost« Sarah asked me, wrapping a strand of hair around the curling iron.

»I had a cold« I said and grinned uncertainly in the mirror. Sarah looked at me incredulously and I also knew she didn't believe me but she didn't ask further.
»Of course« she replied and dropped the curly strand of hair from the curling iron and let it cool.

We talked about everything, whether it was her father allowing her to take John B as a companion or Topper trying to apologize to her again and badmouthing John B.
»Topper says he's bad company and can't give me anything« Sarah quoted Topper's argument.

»Just forget about him. Topper is an asshole« I laughed and Sarah started smirking too.
»Yes, I know but he won't stop«.

When she was done with my hair and braided the individual daisies into my hair as well, it was now her turn.
Sarah wanted to keep no curls and her smooth hair structure but I still braid her a few daisies in the hair. She looked incredible.

I zipped up the side of the dress and straightened the twisted spaghetti straps. A few more single sprays of a nice smelling scent and then I was out of the bathroom.

»Sarah?« I asked confused since she was no longer in the room. I stuck my head out of the room and looked into the empty hallway. »Sarah?« I called out again.

»I'm downstairs« she called from downstairs and I ran down the hall and took a quick look in the big mirror on the wall in front of the stairs.

I loved the dress. It fit perfect, the v-neckline accentuated my cleavage perfectly, it was not too loose at the hips but not too tight either. The cream white shone and the shoes sparkled too.

»You coming?« called Sarah, looking up the stairs.
»Yeah, I'm coming« I grinned into the mirror and ran down the stairs.

»Wow, you look beautiful Grace, that dress is perfect« Sarah gloated and I stopped when I saw Rafe coming out behind a corner.

I didn't even hear what she said, I was staring at Rafe and when Sarah pulled me out of my thoughts I continued down the stairs but I didn't stop looking at Rafe.

»How does she look, Rafe?« nudged Sarah Rafe with her elbow. »Yeah, you look gorgeous« he smiled shyly and walked down the stairs past me.

I came down the rest of the stairs and curtsied to Sarah which she also did and we both laughed. »You look beautiful« I complimented.

»I know that you any Rafe are together« she whispered in my ear as I looked up the stairs.
»We're not« I mumbled back.

»Yes you are and you know it, did you see the way he was staring at you just now?« but the door opened before I could even answer.

»Oh god, I hate her so much« Sarah rolled her eyes and ran into the kitchen.

The Hastings came into the building and Lindsey looked at me with a raised eyebrow and scanned my entire outfit from top to bottom.

»And who are you?« she asked arrogantly and then Rafe came down. In a light blue suit and straightened his bow tie and then ran his hands through his hair. He looked hot but I had to act normal and that I'm not interested in how he looked.

I swallowed hard when I saw him in that outfit. »Hello?« Lindsey snapped me out of my thoughts with her fingers and I looked at her questioningly. »Name?« she asked.

»Grace« I replied and Rafe stood next to both of us. »Shoupe« I told her my full name.
»Oh a fucking pogue« she laughed disgustingly and I looked to Rafe for help with my gaze.

»You look good« she complimented Rafe, giving him a kiss on his cheek and straightened his bow tie. I took a deep breath as I was pretty jealous and would have loved to slap her.

»Yeah, come off it. We both know why we have to go to the party together and that it's not voluntary« he threw her hands away from his torso.

Some time later I stood with JJ and Kie and we waited until the Cameron's would come out of the huge glass door.
Pope was standing at the grill with his dad while they prepared the lobster.

»JJ« Kie said as he grabbed three champagne glasses from one of the waiter's trays and we laughed before toasting.

»To John b that he is Sarah's escort and gets to wear an expensive suit« JJ said and we drank our champagne.

And then the Cameron's and company were already emerging from the large glass door.
First Ward and Rose, then Sarah with John B, who looked rather overwhelmed and was straightening his tie once again.

John B wasn't sure at first if he should be her company, since he has a lot of trouble with Ward because of his father, but somehow Sarah must have persuaded him.

Last to emerge was Rafe and to his right, hooked in his arm, Lindsey. »I hate her so much« Kie whispered and I held up my champagne glass and we toasted.

As Ward gave a speech about his sponsorship, we all started eating something, standing at the bars waiting for the cocktails and the dance floor opened.

I was dancing with some girls from figure eight and suddenly, Wheezie came dancing closer and closer to me until our backs were together.
»Here for you« she held a small piece of paper between her fingers in my face and I took it.

I unfolded it and stopped between all the people dancing.

"Meet me on the other side of the property, I will explain everything to you" -Rafe.

I read the message and looked over the crowd keeping an eye out for Rafe. »Thank you Wheez« I grinned at Wheezie and held my dress up a little as I walked up the stairs to get on the porch to the other side of the property.

»Gracie?« a deep soft voice called softly for my name. »Rafe!« I replied, not knowing where he actually was until a hand grabbed me by the wrist and pulled me to the ground behind a bar.

»Hey« I smiled at him.
»Let me explain all this« he said nervously, switching his gaze over and over between my eyes and my lips, which were tinted with a soft red lip gloss.

»I had to go with Lindsey. My dad made me because he wants a deal with her family« he explained and smiled shyly.
»I didn't have a choice, I tried to explain him, that I wanted you to be my date« he continued.

»So that didn't do anything-« I started to say until a voice from further away called out Rafe's name and interrupted me.
»Shit« he said and quickly stood up.

»What are you doing?« a feminine squeaky voice asked and I peeked out from behind the bar a bit only to realize Lindsey was looking for him.

»I'm just getting some fresh air, it was really stuffy in there between the people« Rafe lied and I stifled a laugh for his stupid excuse.

»Yeah, of course« she said arrogantly and I pulled him back down to me by his arm.
»I wanted to go with you but I couldn't« he breathed against my lips before our lips melted together.

»I love you« I said, breaking our kiss.
»I love you even more« he replied and took my face in his hands and pressed his lips against mine again.
