After John B and JJ helped me out of the boat, Kie cleaned the wound with water from the bottle and carefully smeared cream on the thin lines that the fire jellyfish had left on my body. Kie always had this cream with her, and it was a lifesaver, just for situations like this. Pete's wound was also cleaned with water, and he felt great after getting a snack from me.
»Damn it« I said in a shaky voice, wincing every time she carefully smeared the cream on my body with her fingers. »I am almost finished« she tried calming me down but didn't work.
Fire jellyfish wounds were not life-threatening, it just burned like hell, like someone was going along the skin with a lighter over and over and sticking little needles into the skin. Within a few days, the red lines will subside and become paler and paler until they are completely healed.
When John B docked with the boat and JJ helped me off the boat because I could hardly move my leg because of the pain, John B came up to me while the others jumped back on the boat. »Are you okay?« he asked, and I was surprised that he talked to me.
Twenty minutes ago he was being a total asshole and provoking me by stopping the boat and telling Rafe's friends what was going on between me and Rafe, and now he was being so caring again.
»Yeah, I'm fine« I said disinterested and with crossed arms. I didn't know how to assess this situation and to be honest I didn't have a head for it right now, because my stomach and my thigh hurt and Pete and I had to walk home somehow.
»Would you have gone on his boat?« he asked me after looking at the others to see if they were listening to us, which they weren't, since Kie and JJ had to take care of Pope, because he was way too high and no longer had himself and his body under control.
»This is none of your business anymore« I said, and I noticed how I tensed my whole body because the adrenaline was pumping through my whole body from the pain and because I was even angrier at John B after this trip.
I was disappointed.
With Pete on a leash, I limped back home, hoping no one would be home, because Dad and Veronica would be way too worried and make such a big fuss and force me to go to the doctor's office.
I once stepped into a sea urchin, and they didn't notice and look, I'm alive, and my foot is fine and still attached.
I unlocked the door as quietly as I could, and a moment later Veronica came around the corner. »What have you done?« she asked in shock, holding her hands to her cheeks. She looked as if she had seen a ghost.
»A fire jellyfish attacked me and Pete, but we're fine«. I tried to calm her down, which definitely didn't work after her facial expression. She came up to me and lifted my hoodie which I had put on and stared at the red swollen lines. »It's not as bad as it looks« I said and took a deep breath.
After I convinced her not to go to the doctor, I ran upstairs to the bathroom and took a shower. The tingling, cooling water on the wound made it not hurt so bad, and I could have continued showering for hours.
When I got out of the shower, I opened all the windows in my room and while I put on something comfortable, I listened to the rain as the raindrops splashed on the roof.
A few hours passed and also my wound finally stopped chugging, and also the rain moved on to the east, leaving a beautiful rainbow over outer banks.
I ran to the kitchen to let Veronica know I had to leave again and as I ran down the stairs I heard a familiar voice.
»Hello Rose« I greeted her »Hello sweetie« Rose said and got up from the seat, and we hugged.
As I mentioned before, the two are best friends and met at least three times a week to either go out to eat or drink wine here in the kitchen. I stayed in the kitchen for a moment and exchanged a few words with Rose. The standard questions.
I said goodbye to the two of them and rode my bike carefully because of my leg, which I still couldn't quite feel.
There it was. The house of the Camerons.
I parked my bike in the driveway and walked into the house through the backyard entrance. I had a direct goal in mind. The roof. I knew she would be sitting on top of the roof looking at the rainbow. The house was too quiet, which is why I thought she would be alone, since her room was the only one that had the lights on and also the only way to get on the roof.
As I walked down the hall past Rafe, Wheezie and Sarah's rooms, a door opened and unsuspectingly someone pulled me into the room by the arm. I never knew what was in that room, but even now I couldn't tell because it was dark and the only thing I heard was a breath.
»You didn't want to say thank you?« the voice I've missed the most asked me. I was staring somewhere in the dark, but I was sure I was looking deep into Rafe's eyes. He pulled a ribbon and flicked on a light bulb hanging from the ceiling, shining a dim light into the small, now recognizable storage room.
»Thank you« I smiled against his lips before I closed the remaining distance between me and Rafe and our lips touched again.
This time my tongue asked for entry at his lips and when he granted it to me, I began to kiss him more intensely and with more feeling. His hands rested on my hips, which pressed me as close as possible to him, and my hands rested on his neck.
»Do you know what you're doing to me« he whispered against my lips out of breath.
I knew exactly what I was doing to him, and he also knew, with every move he made, that he was making me even more nervous.
I looked at him for a moment and smiled, in fact I had Rafe Cameron under control.
»You are cute, you know« I said provocatively.
»Never call me like that, understand?« he said in a harsh tone and I felt how his grip got more tense. »Did you understand?« he asked again.
»Calm down sweetie honey pie« I continued to provoke Rafe without taking my eyes off his and a moment later, he pushed me against the wall and pressed his body as close to me as he could get, and I was a little shocked by his move, but I liked that.
One hand was on my back, pressing me against him, and the other slowly but carefully found its way over my body and stopped at the hem of my pants.
I knew what he was going to do now, and that's what I wanted. That's exactly what I wanted to feel at that moment.
He opened the bow with his hand and gently ran his fingers on my skin, along the hem.
My body could explode at this effort, and I felt goosebumps forming all over my body. His hand found its way into my pants, the place where I wanted to feel it the most.
I moaned lightly into our kiss, and suddenly he stopped the kiss and looked into my eyes with a dirty smirk.
»Never. Call. Me. Like. That. Ever. Again.« Rafe said in a rough, hot voice, pausing after each word. After this sentence, he turned off the light and left the room.
