KIDNAPPING SITWELL was pretty easy, to say the least. Sam had gotten the role of calling and threatening him in order to fall into their trap, since he would immediately recognize the other three easily.
They grabbed Sitwell and dragged him inside a building, taking him up to the roof, where Steve pushed him backwards as the door flew open from the impact.
"Tell me about Zola's algorithm," Steve began, (Y/N) and Natasha following behind him.
"Never heard of it," Sitwell backed away, grabbing his glasses from the floor.
"What were you doing on the Lemurian Star?" Steve questioned.
"I was throwing up. I get seasick." Sitwell continued backing away until he realized that if he took one more step, he might fall from the building.
Steve grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him closer to him, and Sitwell smirked up at him.
"Is this little display meant to insinuate that you're gonna throw me off the roof? Because it's really not your style, Rogers."
"You're right," Steve said, letting go of him and brushing his hands on his shoulders. "It's not."
"It's theirs."
(Y/N) kneed him in the groin, which caused Sitwell to groan in pain before Natasha kicked him off the roof without batting an eye.
"I'm still convinced that if you asked (Y/N) on a date — " Natasha started.
"We talked about this. Let it go," (Y/N) sighed.
"Yeah, I'm not ready for any of that," Steve replied.
Their conversation was interrupted by the loud screams of Sitwell, who was pulled on into the air and dropped on the roof by Sam in his glider wings.
Steve, (Y/N) and Natasha approached Sitwell's panting figure slowly.
"Zola's algorithm is a program for choosing Insight's targets." Sitwell confessed.
"What targets?" Steve asked.
"You!" Sitwell exclaimed. "A TV anchor in Cairo, the Under Secretary of Defense, a high school valedictorian in Iowa City, Bruce Banner, Stephen Strange, anyone who's a threat to HYDRA. Now, or in the future."
"In the future? How could it know?" Steve frowned.
Sitwell laughed. "How could it not? The 21st century is a digital book. Zola taught HYDRA how to read it. Your bank records, medical histories, voting patterns, emails, phone calls, your damn SAT scores!"
"Zola's algorithm evaluated people's past to predict their future."
"And what then?" Steve said.
"Oh, my god. Pierce is gonna kill me," Sitwell muttered.
"What then?" Steve's voice got louder.
Sam grabbed Sitwell from the back, as Natasha glared over at him and (Y/N) tilted her head to the side.
"Then the Insight helicarriers scratch people off the list. A few million at a time."
