"HI, YELENA. IT'S ME AGAIN."

(Y/N) held the phone against her ear as her back was pressed in the wall of her newest home. After years of being together, her and Steve had finally decided to live in a house of their own, the one they had planned. The house was of average size, and it was far away from the loud noises of the city, leaving them with peace and quiet whenever they needed it.

(Y/N) had her knees bent in front of her, her whimpers being the only sound in the room since Steve had left not too long ago for his group therapy sessions. He had asked her to come with him, share her experiences with the group, but she always declined, she had a better way to deal with her problems. It was a routine she had grown used to do, an unhealthy habit of hers growing ever since the Snap. She knew it wasn't going to help her at all, but she wanted to hold on to the only thing that could've brought her connection to her sister.

Natasha offered her help too, informing her that she understood what she was going through, and that she wanted to console her, but (Y/N) ignored her suggestions.

"I know you won't answer, but I just wanted to clear my mind for a while," she sighed into the phone, looking up to fight the tears.

She sniffed and a sad laugh escaped her throat. "Remember, back in Ohio, where you hugged me every night when I had a nightmare?"

No one was there to answer her question, which made her bottom lip to quiver as the tears got harder to resist. "It was a sweet gesture, though you didn't know what caused the nightmares."

(Y/N) looked down at the hand that wasn't holding the phone, her brain bringing her back to the days where there was no fights, no outer space armies, no suffering. Just her little family.

"(Y/N)!" a six-year old Yelena whisper-yelled as she crawled to the bed of her older sister with a worried frown written on her face.

Ten-year old (Y/N) silenced her cries and stopped her body from shaking, not wanting to alarm her sisters or her parents.

"Go back to sleep, Lena," she said, covering her body with the covers of her bed as the youngest approached her bed.

"You were crying." Yelena stated.

"It's nothing. Go back to sleep." (Y/N) fought the urge to tell her the reason to her tears, but she didn't want to worry her sister with something that wasn't that big of a deal.

"But I can't go to sleep if you're upset," Yelena pouted. "Mommy always says your pain only makes you stronger."

(Y/N) sat back in her bed and offered her a smile that didn't reach her eyes, and Yelena climbed on the bed beside her. She wiped the tears out of face with her small hands, offering an innocent smile.

She then proceeded in wrapping (Y/N) in a tight hug, the youngest quieting down her giggles to stop Natasha from waking up from her slumber.

"Thank you, Lena. That made me feel better."

(Y/N) hid her sob behind her hand, her head dropping backwards to rest against the wall. She wanted all her pain to stop, she didn't want to go through all of this anymore.

"Everything was easier back then," she said to the phone, having no one to calm her down.

"Would you sit still?!" (Y/N) scolded, purposely pulling a strand of Yelena's blonde hair in order to stop her from moving.

"It's your fault! You're the one tugging my hair!" Yelena protested, trying to move back from (Y/N)'s grip but the sharp glare that was sent her way made her stop.

"It's the only way for me to braid your hair! You asked me to do it, remember?"

"And I already regret it."

(Y/N) pretended to not hear her last statement and focus on the task in hand, which was to braid the hair of the woman in front of her. She carefully picked another blonde strand of hair and braided it with the others, twisting and smoothing it every now and then.

"There," she declared. "All done."

Yelena grabbed a small mirror from her 'super special' vest and checked her hair in it, moving her head to the side to see from different angles.

"Not bad," she said. "But I could've done it better."

"Oh, shut it!"

She couldn't stop the loud sob that escaped her this time, not caring if Steve could hear her if he was already back from the session, she was finally letting all those bottled up emotions to spill out.

"I miss you so much, mladshaya sestra," she whispered. "I have so much to tell you."
