ONCE STEVE and his team snuck their way into S.H.I.E.L.D's headquarters without getting noticed, they walked all the way to the tech room to execute the first part of their plan.
(Y/N), Sam and Maria all had their guns raised when one of the workers opened the door, leaving the man in utter shock and fear.
"Excuse us," was all Steve said to the man before he walked past him to enter the room, (Y/N), Maria and Sam following behind him.
The workers inside the room took notice of the group right away, but they didn't have a chance to stay back and fight since (Y/N) and Maria forced them out of the room without too much effort.
"Attention all S.H.I.E.L.D. agents," Steve began his speech through the public announcer. "this is Steve Rogers."
"You've heard a lot about me over the last few days. Some of you were even ordered to hunt me down. But I think it's time you know the truth."
"S.H.I.E.L.D. is not what we thought it was. It's been taken over by HYDRA. Alexander Pierce is their leader. The STRIKE and Insight crew are HYDRA as well. I don't know how many more, but I know they're in the building. They could be standing right next to you."
"They almost have what they want." Steve continued. "Absolute control. They shot Nick Fury. And it won't end there. If you launch those helicarriers today, HYDRA will be able to kill anyone that stands in their way. Unless we stop them."
"I know I'm asking a lot. But the price for freedom is high. It always has been." he said this as he locked eyes with (Y/N), as if he was silently asking for her approval.
"And it's a price I'm willing to pay. And if I'm the only one, then so be it. But I'm willing to bet I'm not."
With that being said, Steve stepped aside from the microphone and Sam approached him with a curious smile on his face.
"Did you write that down first, or was it off the top of your head?" Sam questioned.
Steve thought of an answer but got distracted once he saw that (Y/N) had caught on the conversation.
"You know, Sam, that might actually be his true superpower, making speeches out of the top of his head," (Y/N) teased, moving her hands in a dramatic way. "How cool is that?"
"Very cool," Sam followed on, smiling.
Steve sighed and rolled his eyes playfully at them, grabbing his helmet from the table and placing it on his head once again. Sam took this as his cue to leave, sparing (Y/N) a 'good luck' nod before the two left.
