(TW: Mentions of suicide)

"Tch," Dara whispers under a breath. "Idiot."

She watches as Azula gives her speech. The people around her stared at the Princess in awe, but all she could think about was how she was gonna save Azula's ass from an assassination attempt.

The jury communicates with each other, each of them stating what they believe will be the right thing to do. After a while, the judge raises his hand, silencing the murmurs from the audience. He opens his mouth to speak. "Princess Azula," He starts. "The jury finds you..."

Everyone holds their breath.

"Not guilty."

A few moments of silence linger, then a loud uproar of cheers from all over. Azula smiles brightly, ear to ear. She turns to the rest of her family, then looks back at her citizens. She turns her head to the judge and mouths, "Thank you." The man nods and gives her a smile.

"Idiot," Dara whispers under her breath. She shakes her head and turns around, walking away from the crowd. "How am I going to stop this?"

............

Dara looks at the glass of water in her hands. She gives herself a soft smile. Her eyes sweep across her room, finally pausing on the bottle of pills placed neatly on her table. The sudden memory of her snatching the bottle from a nurse's hand and running away makes her laugh. The nurse had the most bewildered look someone could have.

Suddenly, a loud 'bang!' interrupts Dara's train of thought. Without warning, a figure bursts into the room—none other than... Azula? Confusion tinges on Dara's thoughts. What could bring the Princess to my room?

"Azu-"

"Don't do it," Azula spits out as she gasps for air. "It's not worth it," The Princess stops for a moment. She closes her eyes and thinks for a minute before opening them again with a hesitant look. "....Please?"

"My," Dara giggles. "A please from the Princess? I must be lucky!" Dara shakes her head. "However, I don't think I can grant you your wish. My mind is made."

"I'm not a princess anymore, my title has been revoked," Azula replies, glancing at the girl.

"Revoked? Why?"

"Because Zuzu had too much time on his hands. Now, if you don't mind, I'll be asking the questions," Dara nods and stays quiet. "Earlier, when I told you curiosity killed the cat, you told me that the cat would be dead by tomorrow. You're going to kill yourself, aren't you?"

"We've got a detective in the house," Dara jokes.

"It's not the time to joke around!" Azula shouts, crossing her arms over her chest. "I'm here to stop you from making a mistake."

"And?" Dara questions. "What will you do to stop me?"

"I-...." Azula looks at Dara with hesitation. "I...don't know."

"How helpful!" Dara mocks. "You've truly changed my mind."

"Did I?"

"No," The girl scoffs at the Princess and her inability to understand basic sarcasm. "You accomplished nothing."

"I'm not very good at comforting people," Azula admits wearily. She walks into the room, looking around and cringing at how dirty the place is.

"I know this place isn't as luxurious as your private room," Dara spits out. "Now, if you don't have anything to offer me-"

"I can offer you company."

"What will company do for me?" Dara questions.

"Well," Azula starts, she leans against the asylum walls. "From my experience, I find that having someone be there for you can help. You might think you don't want it, but deep down everyone wants company."

"Do you have company?" Dara looks up at Azula, curiosity in her eyes that mimicked a cat.

"I used to," Azula answers, looking at Dara under her newly cut bangs. "I don't think I do anymore."

"Why not?"

Azula replies angrily, "I don't have to give that information to you."

"What if I told you it would stop me?" Dara nudges, giving Azula a knowing smirk.

She scoffs at how Dara could keep joking about a situation like this. The other girl giggles, placing a hand to cover her mouth.

"My friends Mai and Ty Lee used to be my company. But after I went mad they abandoned me." Azula states simply as if that was a good summary.

"I used to have company too," Dara admits. "I used to have a family. They're all dead now."

"How did they pass?"

"My dad died as a general, you must have known him. He was tall with gray hair. General Zhao?"

"Oh," Azula gasps lightly in shock. "General Zhao. Yes, I remember him."

"My mom died giving birth to my younger sister, who also died during childbirth. Now I'm all alone."

The two girls sit together in silence.

"I'll be your company if you'll be mine," Dara offers.

Azula looks at the girl and raises a brow. "Does this mean you won't do what you were planning to do?"

"I guess I won't," Dara answers.
