"So what exactly are we doing at a pawn shop?" Sam asked Melanie.
While the team was trying to track down a judge involved in Casey's case, Melanie and Sam took the time to explore the city. They wanted to help but when the team already narrows down their suspect, they couldn't do much.
"I don't know. What's that whole marriage thing? Something new, something used, something borrowed? The pawn shop is all those things. Everything here is technically new, used, and/or borrowed. Besides Spencer needs a new watch."
Sam chuckled. "Okay fair. You know - I'm mad still you didn't choose me as your man of honor."
Melanie looked over at him, rolling her eyes. "You wouldn't look good in a dress, Sammy. Your calves are too big." She giggled.
"Are you body shaming me, Alvez?" Sam pretended to look hurt and offended.
"No, I'm just trying to diminish you so the girls won't feel insecure when theyre next to you." She teased.
Sam shook his head while giving his friend a playful push. As the pair were looking around, they heard a gunshot and screams. They tensed up.
"Was that--?" Sam trailed off his words.
"A gunshot." Melanie finished.
The screams seemed to get louder until a man and a woman had rushed in. It wasn't a few seconds later that JJ and Spencer followed in. It was then Melanie and Sam knew who the man who rushed in was.
The man with a gun pointed his gun up to the ceiling and fired before grabbing Melanie and pointed the gun at her head.
Talk about deja vu almost.
The two FBI agents realized who was now in the room.
"Go! Get out! FBI!" JJ yelled.
Sam, however, didn't move.
"Leave!" JJ repeated.
Sam looked back at Melanie who looked less than scared but deep down she was. She couldn't believe this was happening again.
"We've got this." Spencer whispered to Sam as he headed out.
"Put your weapons down!" Casey instructed as he pointed his gun towards the agents. "Now!"
Melanie had tried to pull the man's arm away from her neck but it wasn't budging.
"That's not going to happen." JJ said.
"Melissa, take it!" Casey said, nodding over at his pocket. Melissa was the judge that the team was trying to call but she was ultimately kidnapped by Casey. "Take it! I'll kill your daughter! You know I will! Point it at them. Now!"
Melissa nodded slowly and removed the gun out of Casey's pocket and pointed the gun at the agents.
"I'm not gonna ask you again. Put it down!" Casey once again instructed.
Spencer had looked over at Melanie - both somehow were giving one another apologetic looks. The agents now had to save two people: their friend and the judge without getting either, or both, killed.
"It's okay." Melanie told the agents. "Listen to him."
If there's anything she had learned from her FBI friends is to oblige to an unsub, even though you dont mean it.
Casey then instructed them to get down on the ground which they had done as well as threw their guns away. Melissa instructed from her to pick up the guns, which she had done.
