The first weekend of Melanie's stay had arrived and typically these were the days the girl would spend time with either Sam or Spencer when she used to live in D.C. Sometimes she'd go shopping with Penelope or grab drinks with her alongside JJ and Emily. But this time she decided to take a walk around the city by herself. It gave her a peace of mind to be alone for awhile while she thought about the possibility of moving back to the east coast.

Would it really be the best for me?

That was the constant thought that crept her mind. She moved away for a reason but it seemed like her reason was invalid now. She hated making decisions like this. It was much easier when she didn't have people she was close to or people she loved but now she did, even if she didn't see them every day at least she knew they were around.

While she was contemplating her life choices, she felt her phone vibrate in her back pocket. When she pulled out her phone and checked it, she felt her heart stop: it was from an unknown caller. The last time she had gotten something from an unknown caller was from Scratch but obviously that couldn't be possible and also there was no way another serial killer could be calling her. She let out a small breath of air before picking up.

"This is Melanie Alvez," she answered.

"Miss Alvez this is Linda Barnes from the FBI." the woman said sternly.

Melanie was confused. Before she could respond, Linda spoke up.

"I'm the Assistant Director for the bureau. I was wondering if you could come in as soon as possible." She said. "Sometime today."

Melanie scratched the back of her head. "Y-Yeah sure. I'll be there in an hour."

"Sounds good. See you soon." With that said, the woman on the other end hung up the phone.

Why was the assistant director of the FBI calling her? Melanie, as far as she knew, has done nothing wrong. Nothing that the FBI could be investigating her over. That's when she decided to call someone who she could trust and probably wouldn't sound too concerned

"Thought I'd never hear your voice again." teased the voice on the other end.

Melanie rolled her eyes but laughed at the male's voice. "Shut up, Matt. Listen, I have a question. Who is Linda Barnes?"

Matt was quiet for a second. "She's the assistant director of the bureau. Why are you asking?"

"Well uh. She called me. Didn't explain why. Kinda weird. I didn't break any laws. I personally think I'm a good samaritan." Melanie said. "What do you think she'd want from me?"

Matt sighed softly. "Linda Barnes...she tore down the IRT. Literally put us all in different units or even jobless. But listen, don't let her intimidate you. There's literally nothing I can think that would put you in jeopardy. I'm just as shocked as you are that she called you."

Melanie couldn't help but to sigh herself. "Thanks. Hey, don't tell my brother alright? It's kinda why I called you. I would've called Penelope but she can't keep a secret. And Spencer well...he'd get too worried. I'll let you know what happens."

"Of course, Mellie. Let me know."

______________

Melanie would be lying if she said he wasn't even a bit nervous to be sitting in the office of the assistant director of the FBI. What's even worse was the deafening silence between the two of them.

"I'm sorry but...what exactly am I doing here? Are we waiting for someone else?" Melanie spoke. They had been sitting in the room for what felt like hours on it.
