"Let me GO!!!"
Braken struggled against his captors, who were dragging him through one of Neo-Seoul's many science labs. He remembered the conversation he'd had with his captors earlier.
"You are not yet perfected. We must perfect you. In the end, I believe you will thank us for it."
Braken snarled at the memory. In his mind, there was no scuh thing as 'perfection'. These guys were chasing a star they could never hope to reach. His only hope right now was that he could somehow survive the procedure that had killed all of his friends...at least, as far as he knew. After the military had been taken them away, Braken had never seen them again.
But now, he had a fairly good idea of where they were. Somewhere in this lab, there were probably some containment cells holding his friends. Break them out, and they'd be free of this place.
Braken knew that the serum had different effects of different people. Sometimes those effects were beneficial, but most often, they were not. Since they couldn't afford to use regular citizens, the military had begun kidnapping Farlanders, people who lived away from the cities of Mirai Sekai. Very few of them had ever come back.
The two meen strapped Braken to a table, and left. He struggled against his restraints for a few moments before giving up. The door on his right opened, and two scientists entered. They moved to a bank of instruments to his bottom right, and turned the machine on.
They didn't even ask him if he was ready, or if he was comftorable. Typical...Braken thought. One of them moved his hand to a holographic control panel, breifly moving out of the way of a board. It read: Experiment 678. So 678 innocent Farlanders had been killed or mutilated by this machine. Fan-frikin'-tastic. His chances of survival were getting slimmer by the minute.
That was when the machine started. At first, it almost felt like he was being tickled. Then, the pain started. It spread up from his legs until every cell in his body felt like it was on fire, being frozen, and being electrocuted.
Needless to say, it took every single bit of concentration Braken could muster not to scream. So this is how I die....he thought to himself.
The last thing he saw before blacking out was a blinding flash of light.
Braken awoke about an hour later, still strapped to the table. The scientists were talking to the two guys who had dragged him in here earlier.
"No, we believe the subject was unable to survive the ray procedure, although it was able to accept the serum quiet nicely..." Scientists 1# broke in at this point. "I would like to take a gene sample for possible cloning. This is the biggest lead we've had in a while."
They were talking about Braken as if he was an animal. Strengh coursed through his body. The scientists backs were turned. The other two men left the room, along with the scientists. That was his chance. Braken tore through the restraints, and got up off the table. He checked his reflection in one of the glass tubed in the room.
He looked, exactly the same. Black jacket with his logo on the front and back, black pants and shoes, pale complexion, dark eyes and black hair.
Maybe I'm just lucky, Braken thought as he picked up his sword from the corner of the room and slung it over his shoulder. He glanced around the room one last time, and headed for the door that the scientists had come from. Then, his vision changed and he could see two guards standing on either side of the wall.
"The ability to see into all the spectrums of light, hmm? That could be useful.." Braken mumbled to himself. He opened the door, and killed the guards in a matter of seconds. Braken looked left and right down the corridor. The door directly across from him read: "Test Material Storage". Braken crossed the corridor, and opened the door.
Inside were hundreds of vertical tubes, containing some all-to-familiar faces. So the serum hadn't killed his friends. They had survived, and were being kept here...
Braken glanced at a few of the labels on the tubes. "Michael Darlington: AKA Monstercat." "Leandre "Leo" Berube: AKA Tristam." "Nicholas Kingsly: AKA Tut Tut Child." There had to be a way of getting them out of here, and Braken was determined to find it.
He combed the room several times, and found nothing. The shouts of security guards were getting louder by the minute. Braken was running out of time fast.
He lost patience, and slashed open Monstercat's tube. The creature fell out of the tube on top of him, but the sat up. "Hey, Braken! I remember you! Where are we?" "Shh! There are guards! Go free the others. Do you remember what the scientists did to you?"
Monstercat scratched his chin. "Hmmm, no...wait, yeah! Oh crap, we gotta hurry!" Monstercat dashed off, and Braken turned towards Tristam's tank. Unfortunately, Tristam was a heck of a lot heavier than Monstercat, and sent the two of them sprawling onto the floor. "Hey, Braken! What are we doing her-wait a minute..."
Most of them remembered after a few seconds, although it took Rezonate a whole minute to believe them. The whole crew assembled in the room. "Alright, we have a misson!" Monstercat announced. "Break out. Find the mega-reactor. Blow up mega-reactor. Tuna fish. Any questions?" Monstercat grinned. Muzzy raised a hand. "Yes, Muzzy? Is this important?" "Yeah. I don't think 'Tuna fish' is a nesscessary objective." Monstercat nodded. "We'll see about that when we get there. Any more questions?" No-one moved.
"Awesome! Now, let's go blow up a planet!" No-one said anything as the Monstercat artists silently slipped out of the room.
