Two years later....

The king had given them correct directions, and Monstercat and co. had built themselves a 'mini-town' if you asked Alex. Braken was just happy to be able to rest and live a somewhat comftorable life. She had grown used to being, well, a chick. It was difficult at first, but over the past two years it had become much easier. Well, as easy as an unexpected gender-change can be.

Braken watched as Nitro Fun sat down playing Pokemon, again. The guy had a serious addiction to old pixelated(or should I say PIXLated) games. She sighed, and kept walking. A few other people had joined their group as well. She could name Aero Chord, Rootkit, and a couple others off the top of her head. Some people had even settled down and started businesses and whatnot.

The thought of family reminded Braken that she was still single. It would probably stay that way for a while, if not forever. After sitting down and doing a bit of research, Varien had figured out that Braken would probably changed gender every time he/she went through a portal. which made long-term relationships fairly complicated.

Braken looked up at the sky to see the clouds darken ominously. Thunder boomed in the distance. Braken sighed. Just another thunderstorm.

Or was it?

Miles away, where the corpse of the Black Hydra lay, and evil stirred. The Hydra was still alive.

Or, at least, its' soul was still alive.

Pain flooded its' entore being. Everything became blurry. FOCUS. MUST FOCUS, it told itself. The pain subsided, and its' thoughts cleared. It tried to move. And it worked. Perhaps all was not lost? it thought to itself.

The hydra's soul moved quickly across the land, heading to the capitol of the land. It hovered high above the city, and then shot downward towards the palace. It had to find and possess the king. That would allow it to corrupt the land and make it more.....useful.

King Raktshock was taking an afternoon nap in his chambers. The Black Hydra's spirit hovered above him, then expanded and surrounded him.

The king thrashed violently, but then lay still. Darkness began spreading outwards from him, corrupting everything in the city in a hearbeat. It spread outwards for miles before stopping. Inwardly, the hydra smiled. The king was not its' old body, but the hundreds of people under his control might be able to make him a new one.

Back at the Monstercat village, Varien watched the dark swirling clouds with anxiety. The spirits of the dead were whispering to him again.

"A great evil rises to the west," they hissed. "One which you have faced before." The news troubled Varien, as the only enemy he could think of that matched the description was the Black Hydra. Even now, two years later, the battle to defeat the beast had not been forgotten. How could it? It was very hard to forget a 300 meter tall hydra after all.

Monstercat scanned the skies, looking for any sign that Rezonate was returning. The pheonix had been sent off to the capitol four days ago for news. Now, he was late, and Rezonate wasn't exactly the kind of person to be late, which made Monstercat concerned.

Suddenly, he caught sight of a bright red streak in the sky. Rezonate didn't stop to pull of any fancy tricks, but instead, dived straight down towards Monstercat, and landed out of breath.

"Hey Rez, what's the hurry?" Monstercat asked. "I didn't see you pull of a couple loops this time."

Rezonate panted for breath, and then looked straight at Monstercat. "You won't believe this, but the Black Hydra has returned."
