Monstercat: The Origins [ABANDONED]

Six months had passed(And also about six months since i've updated. I sowwy). Six months since Monstercat and his companions had escaped the clutches of the Black Hydra. And now, they were going to go back into the fire. Back into the heart of the beast....

Varien had already begun a spell to temporarily create a portal between the two worlds. Six huge black obelisks had broken the surface(No explanation needed. I think we've all heard this one.) of what had been the playground, and were steadily rising up from the earth(That's a Rogue EP. In case you were wondering.).

True to Varien's word, Braken's gender issues had sorted themselves out, and she was less than pleased by it. The scene that followed was tense, but hilarious.

The obelisks continued rising until they towered above Varien. The sky darkened above the school.

Lightning bolts struck all six of the obelisks, and electricity began to flow in a hexagon, connecting the six spires together. Energy began to flow into the hexagonal shape above Varien, and condensed itself into a portal.

An hour later, the Monstercat crew had assembled under the portal, in the rain. Varien could see the faces of the students pressed against the glass. A few were waving goodbye to their counterparts, and a few daring souls had decided to stand out in the rain to watch them leave. Monstercat nudged Varien. "Whenever you're ready."

The light from the portal began to steadily increase, and it took all of Varien's concentration to keep it from engulfing the entire city of Vancouver. The world around him faded away, as he focused on controlling the massive energies that were linking two worlds together.

And then, for just a fraction of a second while the portal was sending his friends to the other world, Varien lost his focus. While he regained control almost immediately, he did accidentally send a few more people there than intended.

When the blinding light faded, the portal, and the Monstercat crew were gone. And Rebel, Howler, G-230, Josh, and Crystal. Varien himself was breathing heavily from the effort, before managing to use his scythe to support him.

Needless to say, the missing figures quickly drew attention. Varien quickly glanced around the schoolyard, and cursed himself for losing control. Principal Monstercat marched up to him. "What happened to my students?!" Varien sighed. "The portal briefly fluxed out of my control. They are with my friends now." The principal took a moment to digest this information. "Can you send them back?" "The reason I chose this place is that your school lies above a nexus of magical energy, that has given a few of your students....unique traits...to say the least. However, to maintain the portal, I drained the nexus of much of its' energy. It will take time to recharge."

"And how long is that?" Principal Monstercat prepared himself for the worst. "It could be a few weeks or a few millenia. It all depends on the conditions. However, if my friends succeed in defeating the Black Hydra, they will no doubt be returned safely." Tristam overheard and spoke up. "Wait, you said the Hydra couldn't be defeated? So how will they ever get back?"

Varien slowly to face him. "There is an ancient prophecy, handed down to us from the Keepers, those who guard our realm, that when all hope is lost, a maiden will arise and slay the Black Hydra." Everyone breathed a heavy sigh of relief. "It also says that the maiden will die." Monstercat sighed. "You really know how to kill the mood don't you?" If the shadow from Varien's robe wasn't hiding his face, they would have seen him raise an eyebrow. "I am simply stating the truth(is running in our blood.). But you would be wise to prepare for the worst."

Varien turned and walked away, staring at the place where his friends had gone into the other world. "There is always hope..." he murmured to himself. "Prophecies are never as clear as they seam. Even if this maiden should die, there are ways in which she might be ultimately saved..."
