Meira had stayed rather quiet throughout the night, but Bella had seemed to infatuated with the Cullens, or more importantly, Edward Cullen. Bella wanted to be around Edward a lot more now that she knew his family's secret, which disappointed Meira a bit. She wasn't able to tell Bella what had been bothering her, nor was she able to confide in Bella about what she had seen or did while in Aberdeen. Meira just wanted to talk to her best friend, but it seemed her best friend had more important things to deal with for now. She knew eventually Bella would be back to normal though, so she didn't hold any of it against her.
The next day, Meira dressed lazily and drove to school. She wanted to avoid everyone, but as soon as she arrived she realized that wasn't going to happen. When she walked into the school building, she was met by Alice and Jasper. They were stood by the front door to catch her as soon as she entered the school. It wasn't Jasper's idea, but he wanted to help his friend nonetheless.
"Do you want me to walk you to class?" Jasper asked, causing Meira to shrug.
"I don--" She began, before Alice cut her off.
"Go ahead, I have to get back to Rosalie to plan the shopping trip." Alice said, as she pushed Jasper towards Meira lightly.
"Alice--" Meira began, but Alice shook her head.
"No complaints," She stated, before a grin happened upon her face,"Would you like to come shopping with Rosalie and I this weekend? You have to come meet the rest of the family Saturday anyway." She commented, causing Meira to sigh.
"Sure, why not." Meira answered, and Alice clapped her hands excitedly.
"Great! You'll come home with us Friday. Only Jasper, Emmett, and I will be at the house, but I promise it'll be fun." She said, hugging Meira close, before quickly wandering off.
"She's a real character." Meira commented, and Jasper nodded.
"Try living with her. I love her, but she can be a bit much for people sometimes." Jasper replied, as Meira smiled slightly.
Meira and Jasper walked to their first class and sat down together. She could feel all of the other students' eyes on her, making her feel a little more uneasy than she had been over the last few days. Meira hadn't told anyone about what she had been experiencing still, so Jasper didn't have any idea of why the girl was still feeling uneasy. He wondered if it was because of his family's secret, but if it was, he would've figured it would be a lot worse than uneasiness.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Jasper asked, causing the girl to look at him with a fake smile plastered on her face.
"I don't know what you're talking about; I'm fine." Meira said, making a frown etch it's way on to Jasper's face.
Jasper already had a hard time dealing with the emotions surrounding him on a daily basis, so feeling Meira's uneasiness and worry made the vampire feel a bit worse.
"You know I can feel your unease, Meira. I would like to know what you're so worried and uneasy about. There's a possibility myself or one of my family members could help you." Jasper stated, causing the girl to frown.
"How do you feel my emotions?" She asked, her voice rather quiet so nobody around them could hear what she was asking except Jasper.
"It's my specialty, ma'am. I'm an empath." He replied, causing the girl to look over at him.
"Anything else I need to know?" She asked, making him shrug.
"I can tell you whatever you want, but it'll have to wait until we're out of school. I can always tell you Friday while you're sleeping over." Jasper said, and Meira nodded.
"I didn't know I was agreeing to staying over until it was too late." Meira commented, causing the boy to chuckle.
"I could've warned you, but Alice would've been unhappy with me," He replied, before a smirk etched it's way on to his perfect face,"Fair warning, Alice will want to play dress up with you. I would bet that you're the only human friend of hers who will ever allow her to dress them up. Bella doesn't seem to be the type." He added, causing the girl to groan quietly.
Jasper laughed silently to himself, as he watched his friend lay her head down on the desk with a quiet, exasperated groan. He was glad that he and Alice had such a nice friend in their lives, even if she was a human. She was the first human Jasper didn't have to think twice about when it came to being around her. He didn't want to tear her throat out, and that made him quite happy with himself.
"Miss Cobain, I believe the notes are on the board and not on the inside of your eyelids." The teacher said, causing Meira to roll her eyes.
"Sorry, I've been trying to calm down the crowd around me, so I haven't gotten much rest between homework and obsessed kids at school." Meira somewhat lied, and the teacher frowned.
"I'm sorry, Miss Cobain. I'll talk to Mr. Quintin about it for you. We don't want you falling behind when we people can be a bit too overwhelming at times." The teacher replied, causing Meira to smile.
"Thank you." She murmured, as she and Jasper shared a look.
Jasper knew she was somewhat lying, but he didn't know to what extent. When class ended, Alice came running over to grab Meira. She practically pulled the girl over to Rosalie and Emmett to talk about the shopping trip she had planned. Though she noticed Rosalie wasn't too fond of her, Emmett was a really nice guy. Alice and Jasper had revealed that Rosalie seemed to like Meira more than Bella, but Meira was still a human, and Rosalie wasn't very fond of humans...
