Meira sat in the living room with Jasper, Alice, and Emmett for the day, whilst the rest of the family went out hunting. The sun had been out, so the family was unable to go to school. Meira had convinced Charlie she was feeling depressed at school--more so than normal--so, he allowed her to go "hiking" with the Cullens to clear her head.
"As I have said, I'm an empath, but I'm not the only one with what you might call powers. Edward has telepathy, so he can read minds, except he's said he can't read Bella's. Alice has precognition, so she can see the future. Her visions focus mostly on decisions, so her visions are subject to change if a decision is changed or made." Jasper informed, as he sat next to his friend.
"What are your abilities that you all share?" She asked, looking between him, Emmett, and Alice.
"We can run faster than any human. We have advanced strength. The only way to kill us, is to tear us apart and burn the pieces. We feed on blood, but our family feeds on animals, so we consider ourselves vegetarians." Jasper replied, as Meira nodded along.
"Jasper is our newest vegetarian, so being at school is a bit hard for him. Being around you isn't so hard though, which we're thankful for. You're his first friend since he's become a part of this family." Alice stated, causing Meira to smile.
"We have our own vampire 'government' called the Volturi that sets rules for the vampires. There's many rules, one of them being that humans can't know about us. Obviously you and Bella know, but the Volturi will never find out about you two as long as we keep a low profile." Emmett added, as he looked over at Meira.
"I have a couple more questions," She commented, and the three vampires nodded,"Garlic? Mirrors? Do you burn in the sun, and what about crucifixes? Oh, and according to Supernatural, vampires are poisoned by dead man's blood, is that true?" She asked, causing the three to laugh slightly.
"We can't eat human food at all, since it all tastes like dirt, so garlic doesn't effect us. The mirror myth is simply a false legend created by the storytellers from years ago." Alice said, as she smiled at the girl.
"We don't burn in the sun, we-uh- sparkle in the sun--" Jasper began, causing the girl to cut him off.
"Like a disco ball?" She asked, making Emmett burst out with a boisterous laugh.
"Sort of, and crucifixes are decorative if we were to want to put them up. Esme, our adoptive mother, does all of the decorating, so if she wants one on display, she'll display one." Jasper said, as he smiled at his friend's humor.
"Oh! What about coffins?!" She exclaimed, causing them to laugh.
"First, dead man's blood is not poisonous to our kind. A dead man doesn't really have a smell, other than death and decay, so their blood doesn't appeal to us. I would think they taste dead, but I've never had one. Also, we don't sleep, Meira, so we don't have coffins." Emmett commented, causing the girl to pout.
"I was wanting to see a vampire sleeping in a coffin." She murmured, as she crossed her arms.
"Sorry to disappoint you, Ma'am." Jasper retorted, smirking the whole time.
"What about me? How am I going to sleep if you guys have no bed because you don't sleep?" She asked, and Alice grinned.
"We picked up a bed for you. It's in mine and Jasper's room." Alice said, causing Meira to smile as well.
"Good, 'cause I want to take a nap and let all of this information sink in." Meira commented, and the vampires nodded in agreement.
"After your nap, you and I are going to doll you up. I've got many outfits for you to try." Alice said, causing Meira to groan.
Jasper sent the girl an 'I told you so' look, before Alice grabbed the girl's hand and brought her to the room she was going to be sleeping in. Meira laid down in the bed and buried her face in the pillow, slowly falling asleep as her mind raced with all of the new information she had learned from the three vampires in the living room. She almost wondered if she should be sleeping in a house full of vampires that never sleep.
*Dream*
"Meira, I've missed you." She heard, causing her to open her eyes.
She was in the same room she had fallen asleep in, but everything seemed to be a bit darker than before. Looking around, she spotted where the voice had come from. At the foot of the bed sat her father, causing her eyes to widen and fill with tears. She leaned forward and wrapped her arms around her father. He was a bit cold to touch, but nothing like Alice and Jasper.
"H-how am I talking to you?" She stuttered, wiping tears from her eyes.
"When you came home, you opened a window for me to be able to communicate with you. I've missed you and your sister so much. W-where is she?" Kurt asked, as he held his oldest daughter close.
"She's still with Mom. Mom kicked me out when I was little--" Meira began, before he cut her off.
"I know, but since I have been able to figure out how to contact you, I haven't been able to see Bean unless I use a lot of energy. I still don't understand how you opened the window for our communication, but I'm glad I can finally talk to you again." He said, and she smiled.
"Dad, what actually happened to you?" She asked, making him frown.
"Meira, I want to tell you, but you're so precious and you're my baby. I don't want to hurt you anymore than you have been already." He replied, as he kissed her head.
"Dad, I--" She began, before he cut her off.
"I have to go, but we'll talk again soon," He commented, kissing her head once more,"I love you, Meira Kurt Cobain." He said, hugging her close.
"I love you, too, Daddy," She answered, as she held him tight,"Please, please don't leave me. I miss you so, and I don't want to lose you." She cried, her cheeks stained with tears.
Kurt smiled at his daughter, as she slowly began to wake from her slumber.
