Kingsley and I walked into the school. "So, how are you?" I asked nonchalantly, ignoring the shiver I got when he brushed my forearm.
He shrugged. "My head hurts a bit."
I cocked a brow. "Hangover?"
Then, Kingsley gave me a wolfish grin. "Look at you, reading me before I even say anythng. I told you we'd make a great team."
I opened my mouth to speak but one of the football guys stopped in front of me. "Hey Diana. Looking great." He checked me out, his eyes shamelessly. I felt Kingsley stiffened beside me and I felt the atmosphere thicken.
"Watch your words." He hissed, his fists balling up.
I gulped. "Kingsley." I warned. The football guy---Lance---raised his brows.
"Excuse me?" Lance said.
I pushed him off his chest gently. "What do you need?" I bit my lip.
"Nothing, maybe we'll talk later, hmm?" Lance winked.
I smiled and nodded.
Kingsley cleared his throat and slung his arm around my shoulder. I was taken aback. We continued walking. "What do you say if I steal you during first period."
"Steal me?" I got smirked, was that jealousy I was hearing?
"Yeah," he said thoughtfully. His eyes glazing over my whole body. "Yeah, meet me behind the fence."
"Okay." I whispered, a little starstruck. "O-okay."
He winked. "See you later." Kingsley turned away to his class. Few girls trailed behind him at the opportunity. "I'm going to catch up with some people."
So I snuck in the middle of Calculus class to go to the "bathroom" to meet Kingsley. My teacher didn't mind it much because I became one of her favorites quickly. Plus, Stella was in the class and I received the stink eye from her and her clique...Amy included.
I checked my phone to see if I got any messages. But abruptly, I accidentally ran into a boy and I cursed fast. "Dammit. I'm sorry--Oh hi Jake."
Jake backed away. "Oh Diana. Hi."
What was up with me and running into boys? "Oh hey. How are you?"
"I'm good. And you?"
Oh, I'm doing fine." Come to think of it, I haven't spoken to him since that passionate lip lock at the party. I felt my cheeks redden at the remembrance. "I think Stella was looking for you."
"Okay, good to know." he furrowed his brows in uncertainty. "I was talking to her last night. She briefly told me about your meeting...she didn't seem too happy."
I remembered the nail salon scene. "Oh, I have no idea. Did I do something wrong?"
He smiled, "'Course not. But you see, that's not why I'm worried. I have been noticing things."
I guess Stella didn't tell him about me accusing her of being a killer else he would have latched onto me in a second. "Is it quick? Because I have to meet up with someone." I smiled uneasily.
"I think you're hiding something."
"And what am I hiding?" I backed away an inch because he has closed the distance between us.
"You've been around Kingsley way too much especially since you guys came from two different places." He cocked a questioning brow.
I really needed to keep a distance away from him. Man, we were being way to obvious. "Well we are the new kids, we get along well..."
