BRENDA'S POV

The Cravers believed in the fact that, pre-bonds, bonds that were made in Safe Haven were sacred-- they were made in the stars, two stars emerging into a single spirit. They were called the Eternal Bond. Although, younger generations preferred the term, bonding since it sounded less cheesy.

"Everyone makes a bond. Some bonds are made for you." Edith spoke. She looked beautiful in a dark purple dress suit. "Bonds are sacred, once made, you cannot undo it. And if you do not have a bond mate, or a Star-soul, the sooner you find 'the one' the better you will be off. Not only bonds make your connections stronger, you're powers will also be strong. And those bonds need to be renewed each cycle so you are always at your full potential, failure to do that results in severe consequences." She warned.

As always, Thomas, the guy who always sat by Brenda raised his hands. Edith sighed but nodded for him to speak. "How severe are the consequences?" He readied his pencil to take notes.

Edith huffed. "Thomas, they are very severe. I'm here only for three weeks. I cannot answer everything you ask. But not renewing your bonds results in a living death which you may not be able to die from." She shot him a stern look, somehow, Thomas easily pissed the woman off.

"Thank you," he mumbled, losing himself in his notes again.

After lecture was done, Brenda quickly got up to leave. She realized that the chauffeur wouldn't be coming for a few hours since he was running some errands for her father. So she decided to read some of the books at the Archive. As expected, she found Diana Holland buried in few books that were scattered on the table as she scribbled information onto a notebook. She had that concentrated look on her.

Brenda remembered Jake's words. If you want to trust a person with your secret, trust Diana. Oddly, she felt comforted by his words. She felt too intimidated to approach her. She had questions about some of the things that were being taught in class. Brenda got the gist that Edith was not telling everything since there was holes in some of the explanations. Why did the Cravers fall in earth? Who were their enemies? Where are they now? How was the war?

They were not answered, and it seemed like they were not going to be answered anytime soon.

Hesitantly, she quietly approached the girl.

Diana was so focused, she didn't notice her at all.

Brenda cleared her throat.

Then she looked up, blinking rapidly in surprise. "Oh, sorry. Did you need something?" She smiled, but a very taut smile as if she couldn't wait to finish her work.

Brenda stared at the sprawled books in front of her, they were so ancient. She guessed, she was staring too long, because Diana shot a cold look. "Hello?"

"Oh, sorry." Brenda laughed nervously. "Uhh, may I sit down?" She pointed to the empty chair.

"Is it quick?" Diana eyed her dubiously but softened her gaze as if she struggled to trust this intruder.

"Sure?"

Diana sighed, motioning her to sit. She cleared the books close. "How may I help you?"

Brenda smiled, hoping that she would be how Jake had promised. Her first impressions were that she was a bitch... "Well, I was talking to Jake few days ago. He told me if I had any questions, his best bet was to consult you, so..."

"And your question?" She propped up in her elbow in interest.

"Okay, you know, Edith right? Well, she's doing an amazing job teaching us some history. But I'm getting more questions instead of answers. We had started talking about the Great Guardian Fall few lectures ago. All she told us about was the enemies, and how we defeated them. The truth is," she sighed, "she never told us why those enemies were our enemies. What made them so angry to turn them against us?"
