"Artemis."

The sound of that name was refreshing. It wasn't as daunting as it used to.

"Leo," I breathed. I didn't hug him. I cautiously approached him.

He staggered to a stop. "Artemis?"

"I'm so glad to see you," I said, my throat dry.

His brown eyes stared at me, his angular jaw sharp under the light. I think he sensed the distance I put between us. A hurt look passed in his gaze but  I'm glad he didn't push.  "It's good to see you again."

I scoffed softly. "But not like this, I suppose."

"Nope, not like this."

"Why are you here?" I skipped the formalities.

"I have to be quick. They're making a decision about you...about now. And I tried my best to clear your name."

I looked up at him, my eyes crystal clear. "And?"

"I don't know how strong your case is, but I tried."

"That's enough," I whispered. Enough was all I would get.

Kingsley's POV

"My brain hurts, stop." I complained, grabbing my temples, trying to stop the shooting pain.

She was relentless, her heels clink clanked on the floor. "I will find a way to stop you! I will find a way to prove her innoncence!" She waved a finger.

I stopped, whipped around. God, she was a headache. "Cara, the hell, woman. Leave me alone." I screamed at her. Couldn't she see I was restless and fatigued?

She flipped her hair, giving me a stare. "Look Kingsley, it's out. You are a Hunter. And Diana is on a death bed because of you. Don't think I will leave your tail, surely, you have closets I can dig through."

I licked my lip, my jaw clenched. I grabbed her shoulders, held them tightly. "Look, Cara. You care a lot about her. I get it. But I can't find anything that helps Diana."

She growled, her piercing eyes drilling right through my brain. Her eyes reminded me of Bat's gaze. Oddly. "Because you hid all the evidence."

I grunted, my arms slacking to my sides. I looked at the door. "You know, instead of arguing, I wish you were in that room, trying to convince your friend from death." I suggested. "Because, it's been two weeks. And the Coven is making a decision regarding her life."

And frankly, I was pissed. I was losing my mind. I started to pace around. "And from the silence in that room, it's not a good decision."

Cara's face crumbled, her lips trembled. "I know her. She would never do anything like that. She's mean, she's crazy. But not a killer."

I wanted to believe her. I wanted to. But I was trained to believe in evidence. Believe in what was given.

Yet, I believed in her.

I looked at the door, I knew she would be in there soon. And I would be called up to present my case.

If victory would be hollow, who needs victory then?

"Kingsley!" Just as I was about to enter the room, a rushing Detector ran towards me. "T-This came in. Just now." He inhaled heavily. "I-I think it's related to the case."

Cara's eyes widened. "Leo. He's a savior!" She whispered to herself. Before I could contemplate, she lunged for the package, grabbing it in her hands.

I stared at her. "Okay, hand that over."

"Not in a million years."

Fury fumed through my nose. "You're a pain."
