Parker's house was full of quietness. The daunting hollowness was resting above our heads.

The team has settled in the living room to absorb in the case decision. While Kingsley was relieved that Stella still had a chance to come clean, he felt passionate about Chase.

"I'm so stupid." He banged his hand on the table. "I should've convinced the judge for his conviction. He was the killer!"

"I know." Matt finished his beer. "But the odd thing is that he is a human. A human. Even if a human is corrupted, they can't have immortal powers to kill a vampire." He remarked.

"Not unless you have a dagger that can kill a vampire." Bat suggested thoughtfully. "But still, something about him...he looks like a criminal but there is nothing about him that we haven't looked at suggests that idea."

Kingsley huffed. "Stella is innocent even if she let a troublesome boy get the best of him, I know her intentions were to keep Jake in love with her. She didn't understand the stakes. That was why he tricked her because of her lack of knowledge."

That was a possibility, but me knowing a little bit of Stella, that wasn't as much convincing. Chase--a human---tricked her? I couldn't understand the logic.

"How did he get the dark spells?Or the sword, where the hell did that come from?"I reminded them that the sword was located in Blood Caves, the hell of the vampires. I pointed out. "He is a human. An alarm should've sounded, let alone a person must've seen him when he entered the Coven. Where was the security guys?"

They were quiet.

"Well, either Stella Evans is convicted guilty or falsely accused." Kingsley said. "And you are wrong, Lovely. This time you are."

"I'm losing my mind. Maybe there are more people who are involved in this. We should investigate the Coven too." Kingsley breathed out loudly. "I guess we continue going to school, eh?" He directed me.

I shrugged a shoulder, hurt and bitter at his cold words.

"Let's just relax. Let the stress wash down the drain." Bat proposed. 'Let's go to a club or something."

I stood up. "No thank you. I rather go home and actually relax. Tough day today."

Right then, Kingsley's phone rang. He picked it up. " Hello, Kingsley speaking." The speaker was speaking loudly but I couldn't really get anything. "Uh huh." Kingsley's voice darkened up a notch. Before I knew, his eyes were narrow and full of shock. "Now?"

"Who was it?" Matt was the first to say.

"Perry." Kingsley said sternly. "Something terrible happened." He gulped down.

"What is it?" Bat stood up in alarm, we inched closer to him in worry.

"Chase Kindle has escaped the penitentiary. He broke out."

====

We were in the Coven  Penitentiary or CP. There were investigators in every corner, seeping through the cameras and gathering witnesses up. We couldn't walk without running into a man or woman lingering on the corner of the wall looking for fingerprints.

My heart has fallen in my stomach, every breath I drew in was hollow. We were walking towards his cell where John Perry was agitated over angry members.

"This will end your career!" Mrs. Clark was arguing. "Look at you! You make me pity. Your so weak." She spat.

I quickly recognized her as the mother of Jenifer Clark. I forgot to even remember her during the court case. She must've been ordered not to come due to the commotion months ago at the Coven meeting. She was even more frail and hell-bent.

"Shut up!'" Perry shouted. "We're trying our very best. Guards. Escort her out of here. This is ridiculous." He was unrecognizable. His hair was not combed, his face distorted ugly. I was surprised what mere few hours did to him.

"Scott, Holland. Eddins." He called us. "This is what we found." He went straight to business.

Sean Kraus,  the memory reader, came forward to explain us how Chase has escaped. "He conducted a glamour spell." He started.

"A glamour spell?" Kingsley brushed his hair back. "He's human."

"Not quite." Sean continued. "He does possess magical powers."

Kingsley was about to object when I interrupted. My mind raced and an idea came to me. "He's a Dark Child." I reveled. Which meant that he was half a vampire. Made by a bond between a human and immortal. Meaning, he was an offspring of Emerus. That's why we didn't detect him with  powers.

Sean stared into my eyes without any emotions. "She is correct." Then, another person handed a piece of paper. "This is what he left." It was a small notebook paper with tattered edges.

It read:

Diana---

I have only two words to tell you:

The Key.

"The Key. What key?" John Perry stammered. "What are you hiding that Chase wants?"

Now the spotlight was on me. I backed away, trying to swallow the news. So Chase was the killer. He was hunting down people...He was a mistake that happened between a Hunter and a human.

The key.

"What key, Diana?" Kingsley probed.

I don't know. I couldn't hear him, too many voices and doubts has risen in me.

"I-I-I don't know." I said without thinking. "I have no clue. This is a trap. He's trying to blame me too. Like he did with Stella." I blabbered.

"Think hard." Perry stepped forward, leveling his eyes with me. "Maybe rest or something. Sleep on it. What does the key mean?"

I bit my lip, my eyes slightly welling up. "I need to go. I-I..." I turned around, walking slowly--lightheaded.

"Diana." Kingsley caught up to me, gripping my wrist which yanked me towards him. "What's going on? How many secrets are you hiding." He stood with intent. His eyes were dilated with confusion.

My head was spinning, my security was in danger. I felt exposed. My fears were coming true. First it was Jenifer..Edith..Will. Everyone and everything pointed at me. It was my fault. This burden weighed me down so much, I barely could breathe.

"Kingsley," I said, I held strong of his grip. I felt myself lose consciousness. "Oh, Kingsley."

Before another word came out of me, I fainted in his arms.
