Diana Holland is a Craver. A vampire. She is also a Detector. A vampire slayer, truth seeker and hunter. When the vampire world as she knows slowly turns upside down with mysterious Craver deaths, she is shipped to New York to find the murderer. In...
"We need access to the House of Blueprints."Kingsley demanded.
Perry shifted uncomfortably but raised his brows questionably. "And why?"
The House of Blueprints was practically a library--filled with books on every Craver, recording their life history. There was only one of them, which was located right here in New York. And from what I heard, it shows if the Craver is still in the cycle, dead, or exiled. Anything.
Matt butted in. "Bat and I are on the research base. It wouldn't hurt to see Jenifer's records. Is she still alive? Will she be back next cycle? We need our basic knowledge."
"We can't walk in blindly into a investigation." Kingsley added.
"Yeah," Bat shrugged. "If she's dead, truly dead. Then we'd be searching for her cause of death rather than trying to prove that she'll be coming back."
Perry, who's remained so deadly silent, knitted his brows. He held up a finger. "You're not here to prove that she is coming back...You're here to find her killers and bring justice." He uncrossed his legs and shot his eyes to Kingsley for an explanation. "That's ridiculous, she's coming back. If that was the question, you're job would be done by now. " He sneered. "I thought I was clear to your Coven reps."
That's not what others are saying," Kingsley scratched his hair apologetically.
"And?"
"Well, to be fair, they're assuming that we are here for the sole reason to prove her death." Kingsley spoke. "We've also been surveying the Coven's reactions. They are skeptical of all the increased security--the Detectors I mean."
Of course they would. They we're not idiots, hell, we've been bombarding the meetings every once in a while.
"I'm not surprised." Perry massaged his temples nonchalantly but it was evident that he was surprised. His plans of conducting an undercover investigation was about to collapse. I hope we didn't get the blame though, we were just doing what we were told.
"Well, this doesn't happen all the time. It's hard to remain in practice of protocol. I'm going to attempt to open the House of Blueprints then. I don't let anyone in there unless it is needed, as you know, it's a priceless place for artifacts." He nodded. "As for the Coven, I will keep any suspicions out of way."
"That will be great, sir." Kingsley stated. "I will quickly assemble the team and start pulling the witnesses."
"Well, carry on then." He stood up. "I have to catch up home."
"Bye, sir." We said in chorus.
Once the door was closed, Matt butted in immediately. "We have to investigate the crime scene. I'm pretty sure the area wasn't searched properly. The first wave of investigators might'vemissed something."
"He's right." Kingsley stretched up. He shot me a daring smile, "What do you say we put our skills to work. Eh, Holland?"
