Tony has many nicknames for Steve, Cap, Capsicle, Grandpa, and more. Not to mention the relentlessly teasing the man for always doing the right thing and never having any fun. To Tony, Steve is the boring student in the back corner of the classroom who talks to the teacher more than his classmates, actually uses work time to do homework, and proceeds to do more homework outside of class. Tony made the decision to crack the "Captain America" facade, there has to be more to Steve than his cold stare, crossed arms, and unwillingness to have fun. And how come nobody mentions the fact that the guy has probably never even kissed anyone in his entire 100+ years of existence?
The guy has never had a breakdown either. Does he even feel anything? Living together, the teammates have seen each other in varying stages of panic attacks and mental breakdowns. Even Natasha once. But Steve? Nothing. Nothing at all. Not even a curse word. Come to think about it, Tony doesn't even know his middle name.
He tried everything from throwing huge parties to movie nights, sparing sessions. His idea of having team meetings failed epically when Steve wouldn't shut up about the "duty of the Avengers" and "teamwork" and "following orders" or some shit like that. Why does the guy always have to be in control?
Then, the accords happened. After that finally got cleared up, besides his new look, nothing changed. That is until Bucky came back from Wakanda and moved into the Tower.
1)
The first side of Steve that was revealed after Bucky showed up was that he actually has emotions, that he can be happy.
Steve was standing in front of the elevator with his arms crossed. He was staring straight forward at the doors refusing to look away. The other Avengers tried to make conversation with him but only got one-word answers. When the elevator ding cut through the silence they watched in equal parts shock and amusement as Steve jumped and ran towards the door.
A man with long brown hair walked out a metal arm in clear view.
"Buck!" Steve shouted pulling his old friend into a hug.
"Hiya, Stevie."
"I missed you," Steve responded his voice a mix between happiness and regret.
Bucky rolled his eyes, "Punk."
"Jerk," Steve said automatically.
Tony could've sworn there were tears in Steve's eyes.
Ever since that afternoon Steve smiled more, he had an extra pep in his step and didn't try to force the team to talk about tactical strategies every time they were together. They had a debate about which type of ice cream was better, and Steve even contributed instead of rolling his eyes.
2)
One thing has changed, Steve is goddamn stubborn and a complete control freak on missions. Bucky hasn't been on any missions yet, but Tony couldn't imagine that Steve would change at all.
That is until October 22nd at exactly 5:02 pm when the Avengers were eating dinner. Tony observed as Bucky kept an eye on Steve out of the corner of his eye. He didn't say anything though.
Well, not until dinner was almost over and the group was about to move on to dessert.
"Want some carrots, Steve?" Bucky asked, quiet enough not to completely disrupt the conversation.
"No thanks, Buck," He said with the slight shake of his head. That man and his manners.
It got interesting when Bucky didn't look away, instead of pushing the bowl of carrots closer to Steve's plate, "You didn't have any vegetables yet. Your Mama always complained about how she could never get you to eat 'em."
