...

Peter feels like he can't breathe and an overwhelming grief floods over him. It feels like something is wrapped around his lungs preventing him from breathing altogether. He finally manages to stumble out of the cabin and away from his mentor's grieving family. He falls against the side of the cabin and buried his head in his hands. Hot tears run down his cheeks and his breathing comes out in sharp breaths.

"Mr.Stark," He gasps out, "I-I'm so-so," his voice dissolves into harsh sobs. His whole body is shaking and the world around him turns into nothing. The only thing he can even comprehend at the moment is that Mr. Stark is dead. What is he supposed to do now?

He can see Mr. Stark's ashen face and his burnt arm. He can see his lifeless eyes and body. He is dead. Peter lets out another loud sob and curls in on himself even further.

"Peter?" The boy doesn't look up, he probably didn't even hear the voice. To him, nothing else exists besides his mentor laying dead on the battlefield. To save everyone. To save him.

"Hey, Peter," Someone else says a little louder. Peter snaps his head to the sound of his voice and quickly wipes the tears from his face.

After a few sniffles he manages to say, "Oh! U-um Mr-Mr. Rogers! Mr. Barnes! Am-Am I in your way. S-sorry," the young boy tries to move out of the way but is stopped by a heavy hand on his shoulder.

Steve shook his head, "No, your no in our way. We just didn't want to leave you alone." Steve's blue eyes pierce through Peter's and he can't help but look down at the smooth wooden planks of the porch. Of course Tony would have them sanded and stained to perfection.

"How about we go get some water?" Bucky suggests, pushing himself to a stand and reaching out a hand to help up Peter.

Together, the three heroes make thier way to the large fridge in the garage. They didn't want to go to the fridge in the kitchen and disrupt Pepper, Morgan, Happy, and Rohdey. They walked in silence but it wasn't that awkward. Well, Peter was embarrassed that he was still trying to stop crying, and cried in front of his childhood idol.

Once they made it to the fridge, Steve handed a bottle of water to Peter. The kid chugged half of it gratefully. He also threw another bottle to Bucky and took another one to himself.

"So, how's Queens?" Steve asks with a hint of a smile.

"Good. Well, someone moved into my Aunt and my apartment..." He trails off awkwardly. Steve and Bucky share a look.

"Well, if you ever need anything just give us a call," Steve responds in his Captain America I'm Going To Help You voice.

"He needs our number to do that, punk," Bucky says rolling his eyes and smiling and the laugh that got from Peter. He then proceeds to give Peter both of their numbers just to be safe.

The older men can practically see Peter deciding if he should say something or not, they don't push him through. He'll tell them if he wants you.

Not a few seconds later Peter blurts, "How do you do it? I mean move on after... after... war and," Peter pauses and tear rolls down his cheek, "death."

Steve and Bucky's heart drop for the poor kid. All he wanted to do was help and look where that got him. Bucky discretely directs the small group towards the lounge chairs. Why Tony has lounge chairs in the garage? None of them are going to question it at the moment.

"As much as it sucks you first have to realize and accept what you lost. After that, give yourself time to grieve. After I thought Buck died... well, I didn't do that and I got myself hurt. When Peggy died, I asked Sam and that's what he told me. He also told me to pay attention to my own health and wellbeing. Surround yourself with people who will support you. Most importantly don't forget about him," Steve claps a hand on Peter's shoulder and Bucky offers him a smile.

"It won't go away but you will learn how to bear it," Bucky adds. Peter nods and tries to stifle a sob against his sleeve. Steve slowly rubs soothing circles into his shoulder.

Steve wipes at his eyes, after all, he was friends with the guy too. Even though he hadn't seen Tony in a few years, he never wanted anything bad to happen to him. Even after the accords, they were still like a dysfunctional family. He just feels bad that he let him down.

Bucky on the other hand still felt guilty.

Petter looks up to Steve with red shiny eyes, "You know, Tony got over the accords awhile ago. He told me himself. He told me stories from right after the Avengers were created when you all lived in the tower. A-And Bucky, he isn't mad at you anymore. He told me that too, he even said it wasn't your fault."

Bucky lets out a loud breath and rubs his eyes with the heel of his hand, "Thank you, Peter."

...

No one moves for a while after that. Steve, Bucky, and Peter just enjoyed each other's presence. Even though they all had many different relations with the fallen hero, they could all relate, they could all understand each other. The knowledge that they are all going through similar things or have been through similar things is comforting.

"Do you and your Aunt have a place to stay?" Steve says breaking the silence.

Peter blushes, "Um- we are staying at the displaced people center that was made after everyone returned."

Bucky and Steve nod, Peter knows they've been best friends for a while but the whole nonverbal communication thing is kind of adorable.

"Buck and I rented a house in Brooklyn, it is only a few minutes from Queens. If you want you and your Aunt could stay in the spare room until you find a new place."

Peter looks between the two, "Really?"

They both nod, Peter cracks a real smile for the first time that day. The next few months are going to be hard but it will be a little easier with his newfound alliances supporting him.
