Sunstreaker rolled into the base. Honestly, these days with him were really good and he trained me every day for hours at the beach and in the afternoon we were mostly relaxing at the beach or pool. "Chatty, you have been talking for three hours straight and I would really like it if you just go..." I took note that he was already parked and blushed a little. "Okay, I am gonna go then," I said. I hopped out and grabbed my stuff from his trunk. "Thank you, Sunny." I ran my hand over his roof and heard his engine purr. "Your welcome," I heard him sulk. I walked off and saw some rookies looking at me. "Are you still alive?" I frowned and nodded. "Yeah, why?" I asked. "Well... you were gone for a couple of days with a psychopath."
I snorted insults and walked off, heading home. "Paige..." Mom embraced me and studied me. "You look good," she said rather surprised. "Yeah, I had fun these few days," I said. She studied with me for some time. "Where have you been?" she asked. "At the base, where else?" I questioned. "Just a question..." she replied and. I headed for my room and settled again.
During dinner, mom chatted about her days in LA and eventually changed the subject. "Would you like to go to New York?" she asked. "New York?" I asked nonchalantly. She hummed and took a bite. "Uhm, honestly, no... I am busy at work," I said. "Just for a weekend," she said. "I don't know..." I muttered. "But you wanted to go to New York for the art galleries, didn't you?" she asked. "Yeah but I changed my mind... I googled it and it's not that special or whatsoever," I scoffed and waved my hand. It's sad I have to lie to my mother like this but I didn't want her to talk to Ben. She hummed, "You are very quiet..." I glanced at her. "I haven't much to say actually." She sat back, "you always talk, no matter what," she said. "Well sorry I am tired," I sulked and poked with my fork in my food.
"Are you going to spill the beans or what?" she asked. "Nothing is wrong, mom. I just don't want to go to New York," I sulked. She hummed and watched me take a bite of my food. "I think I am going to bed." I got up and headed towards my bedroom, sitting down on the edge for a moment. I felt a little disappointed, I wish I could tell her about my four days with Sunstreaker. It went way too fast, it was fun and I loved every minute of it. I showered and laid down, falling asleep.
The next day, I arrived at the base. Not without an argument from my mom. My day hadn't started that fantastic. I padded over to Sunstreaker. "Hi, morning." He glanced at me and snorted. "What do you want?" he snapped. "I just came to say hi... that's all," I said. He grabbed me and slammed me against his alt-mode. "These four days are over, we are back at the base and I taught you the basics so piss off and leave me alone," he snapped. My eyes widened, "what did I do wrong?" I asked. "Just piss off and leave me alone," he snapped. "Did I talk too much?" I asked. Sunstreaker walked off without saying anything else to me. "Sunstreaker!" I shouted after him but there was no response. "Great..." I scowled and smoothed my shirt down. "Great..." I scowled and reported to Ironhide for my first class of today; shooting.
My thoughts were somewhere else. Sunstreaker kept popping up in my mind; what did I do wrong? Maybe I talked too much, maybe he hated me because I talked too much. The other day, he was maybe a little annoyed, but he didn't tell me he never wanted to see me again. What changed within 10 hours? I don't want to go back to where I was before with him. I was hurt to say the least. Especially after the entire fight with my mom this morning. I felt a sharp pain entering me. With a loud scream, I collapsed on the ground. Blood rushed out of the shot wound in my shoulder. The pain was to die for. Ironhide crouched down. "She was in the way!" I looked at the soldier. "What are you talking about! This was the place, you shot me on purpose!" I shouted. "Easy, Paige." Ironhide started to press on the shot wound. "Get Ratchet," he snapped.
"It wasn't my fault... I did nothing wrong. I was reloading––" he cut me off. "Be quiet." I remained quiet and laid my head back on the ground. Ratchet arrived ten minutes later and took over what Ironhide had been doing. "You always get yourself in trouble, huh?" he mocked. I shook my head. "It wasn't my fault..." I groaned as he painfully hard pressed on the wound. "I am sorry... just stay still," Ratchet muttered. I closed my eyes, the sight of blood made me feel sick. The medic helped me back on my feet and towards the medbay. Many feelings flew through me. My mom is going to freak out and probably forbid me to work here, she'll be disappointed in me. Sunstreaker will be disappointed in me. Lennox probably kicks me off the team...
Ratchet removed the bullet from my shoulder and stitched me back up. "It wasn't my fault... I was reloading the gun. The soldier just shot me..." He raised his hand. "Just... relax, okay?" he asked. I sucked in a deep breath and gave a nod. "Don't tell Sunstreaker about this... he'll be disappointed in me and he already is pissed off for some reason." Ratchet glanced at me. "You just said it wasn't your fault... why would he be disappointed?" he asked. "Because... this type of thing always happens to me."
Ratchet removed his blue gloves and threw them away. "I am gonna go." Ratchet raised a brow. "Where are you going then?" he asked. "I don't know... I need some fresh air." I got up and grabbed my shirt, pulling it back on before I walked off. "Paige! You lost quite some blood––" I didn't listen and took the elevator. I felt the tears sting in my eyes. Last thing I wanted was someone catching me crying here.
I decided not to leave the base just yet and settled in the brig, sitting against the wall with my legs pulled high to my chest. I just needed a moment for myself. "H-hi... uhm, are you okay?" I looked up and brushed the tears off my face. "I am fine." The teen studied me for a moment before sitting down beside me. "Are you injured?" he asked. "Yeah, I got shot by a team mate... Lennox is going to kick me off the team." He raised a brow. "Why would he? If it wasn't your fault–" I cut him off. "This kind of thing always happens to me... Sunstreaker is going to be disappointed, my dad doesn't talk to me anymore because he's wanted me to go to Harvard and my mom is going to freak out and tell me to stop... my day already started horrible and now this."
He flashed me a weak smile. "I am sorry... I am just upset," I muttered. "It's okay... everyone has one of those days," he said and smiled. "I feel like I want to complain but I probably shouldn't for the sake of your mood," I sulked and wiped some tears off my head. "I am used to quite a few things and getting shot is quite a big thing, especially when it's your first time," he said. "By a team mate!" I snapped and looked down at the floor again. "Aren't you going to mock me off?" I asked. "Why would I? You're already upset enough." I flashed him a weak smile and nodded. "I hate lying to my mom but she's just annoying and talks behind my back to some guy. I have known him since I was a little kid but he has feelings for me I don't have in return. I am crushing on someone else," I muttered. "Who? Someone at the base?" he asked, sitting back. I gave a brief nod while fiddling with my hands.
"Tell me who it is." I glanced at him. "You are going to laugh at me..." He shrugged, "why would I?" he asked. "It's stupid and we don't know each other," I sulked. "Come on... You can tell me. If I had bad intentions I would have hurt your feelings already," he said and smiled. "Fine... I am crushing on Sunstreaker. You met him?" I asked. A smirk pulled up on his lips. "I do actually... How long?" he asked. "Ever since I met him... His opinion really matters to me. The only reason I am on the team is because of Sunstreaker. He defended me and had trust in me. I don't get what I did wrong... he calls me chatty because I talk a lot and I know I can be annoying but when we came back to base the other day, he was... slightly annoyed but he wasn't angry and this morning, he just completely went in a mad mode and told me he didn't want to see me again."
I glanced at the teen to see his opinion. "That also happened today..." I muttered under my breath. He brushed some strands from my face and carefully wrapped his arm around me. "You need to chill out a little bit. No one is going to kick you off the team, Sunstreaker is just having a bad day, he's not disappointed and with your mom... you can do whatever you want. You're not a child anymore," he said. "I know, but... I am scared to disappoint her too. I have been through quite a lot and... my parents are important to me," I mumbled. "I am sure everything will be okay," he said. I glanced at him. "How do you know?" I mumbled. He shrugged, "a feeling," he replied and dried my cheeks. "Don't cry anymore," I smiled and nodded while he got up. "I have to go. Why don't you go home?" he asked. I nodded again, "alright," I mumbled and got up as well. When he had left, I realized I never asked for his name.
