I flinched. Sunstreaker hit a rookie quite hard, enough to make him whimper in pain on the ground. I never agreed to his brutal methods. Especially when he's left alone at the base, he's very dominant. I watched him kick the soldier. "Sunstreaker, please..." the young mech turned his head to look at me. "Don't hurt him anymore, he got what he deserved," I mumbled. The mech marched over to me, glaring daggers. "Know your place, female!" he snapped and pushed me against the wall. He kicked the soldier one more time before he walked off. Sometimes I can actually talk to him as one of the few but Sunstreaker is lately moody and angry all the time.
My summer break allowed me to work here five days a week and I loved my job here. Hanging around the Autobots and having a nice chat. I have been crushing on sunstreaker for ages despite all the things he's doing. I can't tell anyone about my secret, especially not Sunstreaker. I finished my shift and walked off. I saw Sunstreaker. He had changed his clothing in dark blue Adidas training pants and a tank top above. He lazily sat on the couch, scrolling through his Instagram. I wanted to approach him, have a chat but I wasn't sure if he wanted it. Sunstreaker is very mean and rude towards girls. They always try to hook on him but mostly do it because of his alt-mode. They don't care about him, they only care about his alt-mode.
I walked up to the couch and sat down. I am not going to talk to him if he doesn't want that but the couch in the mess hall is public. Although, it wouldn't be the first time he punches someone off 'his' couch. He claimed it. Sunny didn't look up from his phone. I bite my lip. "Go on... ask me whatever you want to ask." I looked beside me. "How did you know?" This time he looked up and gave me a 'really' look. "I just wanted to ask, because I know you like art, if you wanted to go to an art gallery next Saturday. Lots of famous artists. I thought... maybe you want to come with me... to the art gallery."
Sunstreaker eyed me for a moment. "No." He responded and looked back at his phone, completely ignoring me. I was so disappointed, I already had made plans. He's just so handsome and sweet in his own way. It frustrates me to know he doesn't want to come with me to the art gallery. I sucked in a breath and got up. "Alright..." I had another reason why I wanted him to come with me. I wanted to show Sunstreaker my art and what I can make. He's just not interested. There are a lot of things we have in common. I wish I could share it with him.
I grabbed my stuff and headed home. My parents didn't notice me when I came home. They love me, but lately, they are fighting and I somewhere hoped they would dicvorce, hearing your parents fight all day sucks. I walked into my room and shut the door, sat down behind my desk and opened my sketchbook. I had made a realistic drawing of Sunstreaker. His alt-mode and his holoform were sitting on his hood. It was a photo I snapped of him. My entire phone was full of photos from him. I felt bad for having all those photos. I continued making my drawing. My eyes fell on the tickets for next Saturday. My mom had handed them to me. She would come with me in the first place but told me she had an important meeting.
I grabbed them. It really started to sink in that Sunstreaker wasn't coming with me. I am going to give him the ticket anyway. If he changes his mind, he can show up and if he doesn't then I guess not. Sunstreaker's mind is like a rollercoaster. Sometimes he says yes and does no or other way around but I am not going to force him into anything.
The next morning, I caught up with the mech. "Hi, Sunstreaker--" he ignored me. "I was thinking... I get if you don't want to come but... I do want to give you this for you if you change your mind." I handed him the ticket. He looked at it for a moment. "Alright..." he muttered and left me standing in the hallway. He still hates me. I wandered off and started my shift. I caught Sunstreaker later today in his shady corner. His icy blue optics followed a huan, his new victim. I never agreed to his methods but that's just the way he is. I know he can be nice, but doesn't really show it often. Actually, he never shows it. The mech gritted his teeth, obviously angered by the soldier for some reason.
My eyes traveled over Sunstreaker's yellow frame. I was so caught up in studying his frame that I completely forgot the stairs. I fell all the way down and ended on the ground. It knocked me unconscious. When I woke up, several soldiers were hovering over me. Despite the pain did I mostly feel embarrassment. I glanced at Sunstreaker to see his reaction. He was looking at me but with a look that said
'own stupid fault, fleshie' and how can I proof him wrong."Are you okay?"
The soldier helped me up. "I feel fine," I muttered and rubbed my head. "Your arm doesn't look fine." I glanced at the deep cut. I can't handle the sight of blood and this freaked me out. I just didn't want to freak out in front of Sunstreaker. In fact, I didn't want to show anyone how embarrassed and hurt I was. I got up. "Thanks for the help, but I better get going," I said and walked straight into the glass door and ended up on the ground once again.
Some soldiers laughed. I got back up on my feet again and headed towards the medbay. The lady behind the desk looked up. "Is Ratchet available?" She glanced at my arm and snorted before grabbing the phone. "Why did you snort?" I asked. "Typical something for you to end up with an injury like this," She mocked. I sat down on a bench. She's right, I am VIP patient here.
Ratchet showed up ten minutes later. "What did you do this time?" He asked and gestured to me to follow him. "I Wanna die." Ratchet looked at me. "That's not in my job description. What happened?" He asked and led me in a room. He grabbed blue gloves from the closet.
"I fell down the stairs because I was distracted. I wasn't paying attention to the stairs and fell." He sighed and took my arm. "That's a nasty cut, Paige. I need to give you some stitches for that. Lay back and try to relax, any other places that hurt?" Hé asked. "Little bit sore here and there but nothing too special," I muttered. He hummed and injected me.
"Maybe you should go home when I finish."
I quietly agreed. "It's better for you take a day off and rest a little bit," he added. I nodded. "What does Sunstreaker like besides art?" I asked. Ratchet looked up. "Himself, why?"
I shrugged casually. "Just curious," I mumbled under my breath. "You're still crushing on him?" He asked. "What? N-no, I am not— do you really think I— no! Primus no..." Ratchet gave me a look. "No, really. Like... he's rude and mean... we don't talk. I don't like him," I snorted. "Than why disunity ask him to come with you to the art gallant?""I overheard your conversation the other day. I watched you struggle and suffer and getting rejected," He mocked. "Thanks, that really cheers me up." Ratchet smirked a little but didn't look up. "I didn't ask him because I like him... He likes art, so that's why I asked. I thought... maybe he could show me one of his paintings. I have never seen it before— I don't like him by any mean."
"Ah of course," Ratchet scoffed. I looked down. "Alright, you're done." He stepped back. "Thanks." I slid off the medical bed. "Don't spread rumors. You're wrong, Ratchet." He hummed. "I bet." I didn't feel convinced but left.
On my way in the bus, I got tons of WhatsApp messages. Since I started working at NEST, I joined 'the N.E.S.T killers' an WhattApp group with over a hundred soldiers in it. They had sent a video of me walking into the door. I just felt like my entire world collapsed. Apparently they felt the urge to make fun of me.
"Honey? What's wrong?" My mom asked as I stormed over to my room and buried my face in my pillow. The mattress dipped. "Sweetie? What's wrong?" She asked. I told her everything and showed her the video. "I am going to talk to Lennox." She got up obviously pissed off. "Mom! No." I grabbed her arm. "You'll make it worse. It will die down eventually..." she sat back down and hugged me.
"If I was like Sunstreaker, people wouldn't laugh at me."
Mom sighed. "Isn't that the alien you can't stop talking about?" She asked. "He's not just an alien, mom. He's amazing." She hummed and brushed a strand from my face. "You have a crush on him?" I snorted. "Maybe a little bit. I mean... how can you not fall for him? Isn't he handsome?" I showed her a photo. "He is but... he's an alien."I looked at the photo. "I know... I can't help. I just want to be like him. I wanna be just as good as he is." My mom hugged me again. "I know you will, honey. Maybe even better." She nudged my side before she got up. "No more crying." I smiled and nodded. "We eat pizza tonight." A smile formed on my face. No matter what, pizza always makes my day.
