"you're up way too early..." kenma mumbled as he tried to find his way to slap kuroo out of sleep. his alarm clock had been blaring nonstop for a few minutes now which was truly getting on everyone's nerves, including akaashi's, who was trying to cover his ears with a pillow. kenma, who you'd think would be used to this, was just as mad as always.

"hrrmmr.... ngnnn" kuroo tried saying something, his eyelids refusing to open up. perhaps somewhere in a distant dream kuroo was dancing on a cruise ship, nice music playing as he had his arms around his boyfriends just having fun and messing around. though, as if out of nowhere, a massive painful wave hit him and he was finally forced to get up.

it wasn't a wave, rather, akaashi's arm slapping him in the face as a last measure to make sure the alarm clock stops screaming. after what seemed like an eternity, the room filled with glorious silence, you could hear the clock somewhere in the living room slowly ticking away, the slight buzz of the fridge and the barely audible hum of the cars outside.

kenma shuffled closer to akaashi, cuddling up to him, the other could not be bothered as the silence had made him fall asleep once more. the three of them stayed up till late, watching youtube videos mainly, going down the rabbit hole of conspiracy videos and whatnot, like that david dobrik cult video - wild. and somewhere in the early hours of the morning they all found themselves in bed, cuddling and whispering and chuckling before eventually falling asleep.

kuroo, finally managing to fight off all the urges, opened his eyes. the crimson red ceiling of kenma's bedroom wasn't surprising anymore. he glanced at kenma and akaashi who were peacefully snoring away all their worries and felt a smile creep upon his face. he reached out, his hand gently brushing the hair away from akaashi's face as the other seemed to be floating somewhere far far away, relaxing this early morning. kenma had his face buried somewhere in akaashi's chest and so kuroo simply fixed the blanket on them and got out of bed.

today was a new day. a new day full of opportunity, that's what kuroo liked to tell himself in the shower. he wanted to work hard, to sharpen his skills so that he can take care of those around him, maybe that's why he rolled into an extra course, specifically taking place on one day in a week where he has no other lectures. though, that didn't stop him. he imagined a future where kenma streams and plays game, where akaashi writes columns for papers and books - where the two of them are doing what they love to do and he has a chance to make sure their dreams come true - that's what mattered to kuroo.

he grabbed whatever was edible from last night as he inhaled deeply and headed out, making sure the automatic lock worked and no one would be able to see his two boyfriends, no one else deserves such a precious sight. kenma's apartment had a lot of perks. apart from already being a large apartment with plenty of space and lots of places to hang out around it - it was also close to university, which was always a big plus.

the halls were as empty as one could imagine them being during such an early morning, even staff was walking around, yawing, holding coffee in their hands as they slowly walked to whatever room they needed to. the janitor lady was perhaps the only one energetic, blasting music through her headphones as she imagined herself in a movie - singing into the handle of her broom.

to kuroo's surprise, his room was already unlocked, two students sitting inside - still with coffee, or maybe one of them had an energy drink, kuroo couldn't tell. he sat down in whatever place was comfortable for him and took out his phone to scroll through any news. the university page was somewhat calm,  the group chat for students of his course was also empty, apart from that one message of someone asking to borrow a charger. the only thing worth reading was a new article on the moons of jupiter.

kuroo opened up his gallery, scrolling through pictures of last night. many pictures of kenma, then of akaashi, then of them both, and finally of all of them. he ended up picking a couple, thinking about whether or not he should post them to his instagram page. the room, meanwhile, was slowly filling up with students all somewhat enthusiastic to take this extra course. it wasn't until a familiar scent came upon his nose that kuroo looked up from his phone, trying to find the cause of it, pin it to someone.

to his most utmost surprise, there he was.

bokuto.

sitting right next to him, pretending not to notice that he was in fact sitting next to kuroo. kuroo just... stared at him for a minute, maybe two, glaring at him, waiting for him to turn to him and ask anything, say anything, as kuroo was ready to berate him right there right then in front of the whole class. but he didn't. not even once did he even breathe in kuroo's direction.

akaashi's words from last night rung in his ears. he couldn't deny that something about bokuto seemed... different. maybe the way he dressed? or the fact that he didn't style his hair? or was it the fact that he wasn't sitting in a way that only screamed "look at me! i'm a straight guy!". his vibe was different, as kenma would say but he still couldn't and wouldn't trust this man with anything.

"you're sitting next to me." kuroo finally said, he saw how bokuto's breathing hitched and he put down his pen. finally, after a minute of deliberation, bokuto turned to him, facing him head on.

"yeah, this was the only good seat available, sorry. am i bothering you?" he asked. something in the way he asked the question and the tone of his voice made kuroo NOT want to punch the light out of him.

"i'm surprised you have enough balls to even speak to me right now. " kuroo added.

"i don't. truth to be told, i am scared of you big time." bokuto confessed and looked away, taking his pen again and scribbling tiny nothings on the page of his notebook.

kuroo just sat there stunned, millions of thoughts racing through his head. honest bokuto wasn't something he was expecting, but each day brings surprises. just as kuroo was about to give up on talking to him, he decided to ask one more thing, something that had been killing him for a while. "so, why did you do it?"

"do what?" bokuto asked.

"why did you sleep with akaashi yet still hated him and everyone else who's not straight? why did you try to win him back if you hate gays so much?" kuroo asked. he knew that akaashi was putting on a strong front for both of them but inside, when bokuto behaved like that, he was hurting - he really wanted bokuto to just admit everything.

"i never hated anyone." bokuto put his pen down again, but didn't dare to turn to kuroo. "i was just in denial about everything that i felt inside. i guess i was scared. i tried to win him back because deep down.... he was the one i liked the most and i couldn't bear losing him..." bokuto sighed deeply and finally turned his head to kuroo, he managed a small smile. "now you have him so please treat him well."

"..." to say kuroo had no words was an understatement. he simply watched bokuto for half a minute before shaking himself out of his thoughts and pulling his notebook out of his bag.

"is that... a good omens notebook? i thought they don't have official merch?" bokuto suddenly asked.

"they don't, i had this made. you know the show?" kuroo raised an eyebrow.

"yeah, i love it. it's incredible." bokuto said, somewhat cheerfully.

and you know, each new day truly does bring something new because kuroo had never imagined he would have spent so much time talking to the one person he was set on hating forever. yet, somewhere along the passing minutes of their conversation his anger melted away and he found himself thinking "hey, maybe akaashi was right, maybe he's not that bad."
