"so, where to next?" akaashi asked cheerfully, in his hands a bag from the cafe with another fruit tart that kuroo bought for him, he couldn't resist. when kuroo saw akaashi's face light up with joy once the baker put a fresh raspberry fruit tart in the display he just had to.
"you've been talking about going to an exhibition. there is one dedicated to macro photography in the central park, i thought you might want to go..." kuroo scratched the back of his head. "i'm sorry if it seems boring..."
"what? no! it seems interesting! i love macro photography!" akaashi smiled widely, impressed by not only kuroo's memory but also by the fact that he picked such a sophisticated date for them - wow, what a man.
"really? i wasn't sure whether you would like it" he chuckled nervously. before kuroo could react akaashi grabbed his hand and started dragging him towards the park, excited to see all the close-ups of animals and flowers - they're mesmerizing.
the two of them marveled at the size of the exhibition, over thirty displays, over two hundred photos, a couple of food stalls and souvenir tables - akaashi could not erase the smile from his face and kuroo could see it. honestly, he was scared that akaashi might think it would be boring, but then again it's the thought that matters, right?
as they walked through the exhibition, discussing the photos shown, they found thsemlevs having a really good time. there was a display of pictures that were close-ups of various body parts - some you could only guess. there were displays dedicated to small bugs, to flowers, to an array of materials and household items.
truthfully speaking, akaashi really liked it. he found in interesting and entertaining, especially since he was with kuroo who had some sort of insight for every single picture. it wasn't the cliche movie date or a restaurant date - this was new and exciting. spending time with kuroo like this made akaashi want to ask him something even more...
"say, kuroo..." akaashi started, catching kuroo's attention. the two of them were at the last display, sitting on the bench and staring at close-ups of hands in front of them.
"yeah?" kuroo turned to him, his heart skipped a beat when his eyes met akaashi's - whenever the sun shined on them they looked like finest polished gemstones, they had a depth in them that reminded kuroo of a dive into the ocean.
"what did... you and kenma find attarctive about me? and since when?" he asked.
"since the first time we saw you"
"you mean when i walked in on you two kissing?"
"yeah. at that time we already knew we were both open to a polyamorous relationship but we had yet to settle on a person. all the people that tried it just said it wasn't for them" kuroo sighed, remembering the way kenma and he used to sign up for dating sites.
"yeah, you told me that some time ago" akaashi chuckled.
"so, when we first saw you and when we had some beers that evening... we both talked about it. we were both infatuated by your looks at first, i mean, there is no part of you that isn't attractive" kuroo watched the tips of akaashi's ears get redder.
"and what's next?" akaashi asked quietly.
"we had a talk long time ago about polyamorous relationships and you said you were open to them. i think that was about time it clicked for me and kenma. so, we started slowly pursuing you until we realized that you were... taken" kuroo sighed, even thinking of that guy made him mad.
"not exactly"
"you had a sex partner, we thought you were dating him, but we never gave up hope. and... finally - here you are" kuroo placed his hand atop of akaashi's and smiled at him warmly. "the more we got to know you, the more we fell for you. honestly, being in the same room sometimes got hard, especially whenever you came back drunk"
