"Noah... I'm so sorry." I began softly.
"It's okay. He shot myself because -" I interrupted him before he could continue.
"You don't have to say anything, please don't feel like you need to tell me anything." He gave me a small smile.
"I don't mind, he. He shot himself because his girlfriend was abused by her father... And he, he beat up her father. When she found out she vowed to never speak to him again. He was in love with her. She was the one he wanted to marry. He... Felt like a part of him went when she did. He spent three years. Three years trying I get her back. After he finally realised he lost her. He became depressed. He wouldn't eat. Wouldn't sleep. He just stared at the ceiling. And finally on his twenty first birthday. He ended it."
I saw a quick tear rolled down from his eye, he thought he wiped it away before I saw it but unfortunately, I did. He glanced back at me with a small smile. To my surprise I had tears rolling down my eyes.
"I'm sorry!" I wiped my tears away and grew a pair.
"It's okay. Don't apologise." He slowly wrapped his arm around my shoulders and my breathing hitched. He was slowly running his hand up and down my back soothing me.
"I do need to apologise, I'm the one who is suppose to be comforting you." I smiled. Wiping my tear stained face.
"How about we both comfort each other, with some comfort food?" He suggested smiling. I nodded and smiled back at him. He pulled his arm away and I felt cold and missed the lack of touch.
God what is happening to me.
"Can I ask you something?" I spoke softly after a few moment of silence.
"Shoot." He said happily.
"Do you miss him?" I asked.
"Yeah... We were really close. He taught me everything I know about football! That's what made me become a quarter back... Sometimes." He paused and took a deep breath.
"Sometimes it really hits you know, like just the other day I ask my mom what time would Nathan be home. Safe to say she got quite upset. I still haven't deleted his phone number off of my phone, it would make it seem too real. Even though I already know it is." He was silent for a long time. His hand was right next to mine. I hooked my pinky around his pinky. He glanced down at our touch and looked back up at my eyes and smiled. I wasn't doing to suggest anything. I was doing because of comfort.
"He's in a better place now." I whispered softly. "The best people are the ones who leave us first."
"Yeah... Speaking of football are you coming to watch the game on next Friday?" He asked me.
"No... I'm a cheerleader, I will be watching because our cheer is during half time but I'm not in the audience." I chuckled.
"Wow, I didn't know you were in cheer." He told. I pulled my hand away and folded them in my lap.
"There's a lot you don't know about me." I smiled secretly.
"Oh yeah? Such as?" He asked me.
"Well... What do you want to know?"
"Hmmm. What do you do in your spare time?" He asked relaxing back into the sofa. He put his arm up on the back of it! Thanks Noah now I can't sit back or it will look like you have your arm around me.
