My breathing stopped, in time with my heart. My shoulders rested, moving not. My eyes still and unblinking. My bones solid, frozen in place. My brain turned to mush and I couldn't figure out what was happening.

"Hey Emma." The voice repeated. The same raspy, low and deep voice I listened too for months before.

I glanced down at his appearance and he had cleaned up a lot. He look smart and sexy. Then that snapped me back into reality. It happened in one big crash of emotions and I realised what the fuck was going on. I reached for the door handle to push it closed but his hand beat me there. He enclosed his fist around my wrist and moved it back gentler than you could ever imagine.

"Please." He broke again. "Please let me speak." I looked up off the floor into his charcoal grey eyes which were full of sorrow.

"Let you speak?" I repeated harshly. "You ruined everything and you want me to let you speak?" It was a rhetorical question and he understood it.

"Emma... Please let me in to talk." He pleaded. His finger tips brushed against my elbows as he cupped them into his hands. I ripped them away and ran to the kitchen. I heard the front door shut, wait. Did he just put the lock on?

Walking up and down the kitchen repeatedly wasn't helping. I knew he was watching me, trailing me with his eyes as I did so. And it made it even harder.

"Emma... I didn't do it. You have to know I never wrote those letters. You have to know-" I cut him off sharply with a hard slap to his cheek. "It's Okay. I deser-" I cut him off again. I felt a tear escape my eye and roll off my cheek. Dribbling off my chin. And again. And again. Until I was crying more than I ever have before. I balled my fists up and bought them in connection with his chest, I wasn't making much of an impact. He barely flinched. But it made me feel better.

"You. Just. Stood. There." I hit him as hard as I could between my words and made sure to emphasise my feelings.

He was taking it all. He wasn't stopping me when I went to hit him, he wasn't hitting me back. He just stayed there. Taking it all.

"Believe me. I wanted to run after you I did!" He continued.

"SO WHY DIDNT YOU? You let me leave twice with out running after me to stop me. I know why it's because you saw your opportunity to get rid of me."

"Emma. I can't explain to you how much I wanted to go after you but you hate me. You slip through my fingers and I let you go because it's what you said you wanted." I cried harder and harder. I hit him harder and harder. Bullshit.

"How many lies have you got to tell me Huh? Tell me the truth for once. The truth." I demanded closely.

"The truth is you're stunning to me. You are everything I have ever wanted and when you left me. Both times, it killed me. It killed me to know that I was responsible for your pain. It gutted me. And I feel like I have been shot when I see you crying. My lungs swell up and I can hardly breathe... I need you Emma."

More tears fell down my cheeks, but these were different. They were softer. They... They were nice.

"You've been following me haven't you?" I questioned suddenly. He nodded slowly. His gaze never leaving mine. "Why?" I questioned further.

"It was the closest I could get to you without hurting you. I just... I had to make sure you were alright. I mean I know you weren't, and it was because of me. But I had to know you were safe. I just have to be near you."
