Laughter rang through the room almost aloud as the radio was playing.

Max was dancing and singing and as soon as y/n entered and set her bag down she danced along with her.

El opened a magazine with Ralph Matchio on the page.

Y/n sat down from dancing. "Love the style" y/n said as Max set down the hairbrush she was using as a mic, she chuckled and sat down on the bed.

"Oh I see you found Ralph Macchio." "Macchio?" El asked.

"Yeah, he's the karate kid." Y/n said as her an Max did some karate moves.

They all laughed. "He's so hot right," Max said, "I bet he's an amazing kisser too."

Y/n nodded in agreement.

"Hey uh, is Mike a good kisser?" Max said.

As y/n lifted an eyebrow with a smirk.

"I don't know. He's my first boyfriend." El said.

"Ex-boyfriend." Max corrected.

"Wow! What! I need details." Y/n said.

Max told y/n everything as El looked guilty.

"Don't worry about it. He deserved it." Y/n said.

"Yeah, and I bet he'll come crawling back to you in no time, begging for forgiveness. I guarantee you, him and Lucas are, like, totally wallowing in self-pity and misery right now. They're like, 'Oh, I hope they take us back." Max impersonated as they laughed.

"God, what I wouldn't give to see their stupid faces." Max said as El looked down thinking and y/n looked to El and to Max.

The static crackled as they sat on the bedroom floor of El's room.

The yellow radio switched back from a station then back to static.

El was leaned up against a dresser and put a black bandana over her eyes.

Max excitedly went from the spot on the floor where she was sitting to next to y/n on el's bed.

"Is this really gonna work?" Max asked.

El nodded in response.

"Holy shit this is insane!" Max said.

"Max." Y/n and El said at the same time.

Max's facel expression turned from happy to serious in a matter of milliseconds.

"Yeah, quiet. Sorry." Max said.

They sat in silence for a few seconds then El spoke up, "I see them."

Max moved from the spot on the bed to kneeling besides El's face.

"What are they doing?" Max asked taking a seat.

"Eating." El said.

Silence rippled back into the room. El spoke up again,

"They say we are 'species." El said.

"What?" Max asked.

"Emotion, not logic." El said.
