A couple of days had passed since Sidra finally consummated whatever growing fantasy she had of having sexual relations with another man. She still couldn't believe that it would come at the cost of her integrity and her job. She chewed incessantly on the inside of her cheek as she tried to remember the brief details she read from the NDA she was now legally inclined to uphold, even with her chief constantly approaching her with doubt and negativity.

Her nervousness only grew as she went back to work the following week, trying to ignore the growing desire to text Abel, which ultimately meant seeing him. But more importantly, she was trying to avoid her boss' invasive questioning about how long she was taking to come up with some more intel on her assigned case.

Sidra did the best she could in avoiding him, but the more she avoided her boss, the more she thought about how Abel had her bent over his desk and on his lap within one day. All she could do was imagine a time where it could've been possible for her to drop her case completely and give in to him like her desperate side craved.

She had been driving herself crazy thinking about how serious the older man was when he told her to text him. If he really wanted to see her, he wouldn't be waiting so long to text her himself. But she still managed to stand her ground and resisted the urge. She ultimately knew that if she gave in just days after they finally had sex and she agreed to sign the NDA, it would be ten times easier for her to cave completely on her case that was going nowhere.

Her thoughts still ran through her slipping mind as she mindlessly added memos and date stamps to the minor assignments she got earlier in the week. She almost didn't notice when her boss approached her.

"Sidra." He started. She looked up instantly, her mind completely void of the criminal she was fucking as she registered the tone in his voice. His lips were in a tight line as he addressed her by her name and not her title like he usually does.

"Chief?" She answered meekly, knowing exactly why he had a condescending look in his eyes.

"Since you are seeming to be...lackadaisical in the recent case I assigned to you, which I'm sure is inappropriate to refer to as 'recent' at this point since I gave it to you almost a month ago, I'm assigning you a partner to help fill out all those blank spots in your reports." He said sternly, putting his hands on his hips as he spoke.

Her pulse quickened instantly as she bit down on her lip and nodded at his change in her case.

"Will there be any problems with me stepping in to assign you a partner, Sidra?" He asked, his eyes narrowing at her silence.

"No, sir. This case is tricky, so it wouldn't hurt to get the extra help." Sidra said smoothly and he smirked.

"Good. So that means you won't mind me getting Roberts on this to help you out. In complete honesty, if I would've known you were gonna take this long to have this shit under wraps, I would've given it to him first." He said and Sidra didn't doubt for a second that he was trying to insult her work ethic.

She sucked in an annoyed breath as she watched her chief call over agent Roberts, an incompetent newbie who only had two successful cases under his belt. This was surely going to be a problem. Not only did she already have to hide the fact that she signed papers that weren't cleared by the agency for her investigation, she now had a clumsy agent who was probably going to screw her over to earn points with the rest of the floor if he found out.

Her tongue was in her cheek as she rolled her eyes slowly only for them to lock with her inept co-worker. He had a shy smile on his face as he placed notes for the case that they were now going to be working on together on her desk.

"Hey, agent Jones." He greeted and she grimaced. She heard as her chief chuckled, but paid it no mind as she shot agent Roberts a fake smile.

"Terrance," Sidra said once, finally acknowledging his presence.
