That Isn't You.

Dani~

"Are you sure you don't want to come with me?" Christian asks me yet again as he drops me off at my place.

"Yes, I'm sure," I tell him, "I have a few things to do anyway."

"Okay. Can I come over later?"

"Sure. I can't promise I will be awake though."

"I know where the key is."

"Good luck," I tell him before getting out of his car.

"Thank you. I need it. My good luck charm won't be there today."

"Not sure I can be a good luck charm when I won't be here next season."

"Don't remind me."

"Bye Christian."

"Bye Dani." I shut the car door before heading to the elevator. In all honesty, I just needed a breather from him. I just need space to think.

He asked me some deep questions, some stuff I wouldn't tell my parents but I told him. Yes, alcohol was involved. I don't want to ruin our friendship.

Hearing my phone sound as I folded my laundry I decided to leave it. It's most likely Christian. Which is fine, but I need some space.

I keep folding my laundry, stacking it in piles on the couch and floor. Once I'm done, I take everything back to my room, putting the clothes away in their respective spots. I grab a few dishes that I had left in my room and take them to the sink to wash them quickly. I pass my phone as I see it light up. He can wait.

After washing those few dishes, I go back to sit on the couch to take a break and see the multiple texts from Christian.

Christian: The guys miss you
Christian: I'm serious they won't leave me alone
Christian: And now I'm bored

I laugh as I read them, not opening the message itself but reading them in the notification center. If someone were to ask me to explain our friendship, I wouldn't know what to say. We're friends but friends who have also seen each other naked. I don't know if you can classify that as friends.

Christian: You good? You always answer my texts

Christian: You up?

I am up, however, I am very tired. I still haven't answered him from earlier. I just kind of pushed them aside. I grab the blanket and pull it up to my neck as I lay on the couch. He can come over if he wants. I'll let him decide.

I turn on my side and put my phone on the side table before turning on Grey's Anatomy. If he wants to come over, he'll come over.

Soon I hear a few knocks but don't get up. He knows where the key is. I bury my face in the pillow and pull the blanket up even further. I hear the deadbolt turn. Damnit. He didn't give up.

"Dani?"

I'm not saying anything. I'm going to pretend that I'm sleeping and maybe he'll take the hint.

His footsteps get closer as I pretend I'm sleeping. I hear him chuckle and soon he turns off the lamp that was on the side table. I hear him walk away from me but I keep my eyes shut and breathe shallowly.

I hear him come back and the TV turns off. I was watching that. "Dani."

I slowly start to 'wake up' and squint as if it was bright. "You suck at answering your phone," he tells me.

"That's the first thing you say to me?"

He laughs, "What? It's true. I texted you hours ago and you never answered." And there's a reason I didn't answer.
