Dani~

I shut Brielle's door quietly after I had got her to sleep for the second time tonight. I go into our room and make sure Zara was still sleeping. I turn the camera on to face her so I can take the baby monitor downstairs with me.

I grab a wine glass from the cupboard and pour myself a glass. I go sit on the couch and put the blanket over my legs. I turn on the TV and flip through the channels until I can't find anything. I turn on Netflix and pick a random show.

I hear the garage door open. I look over and see Christian. He puts his keys down before coming over to me. I lean my head back on the couch, "There are leftovers in the fridge."

"Okay."

He leans down and kisses me before going into the kitchen. He heats the food and comes to sit by me. "What's the occasion?" he asks as he takes the glass out of my hand and takes a drink.

I take it back from him, "I survived the first day without your mom with an infant and a toddler."

"I told you you'd be fine."

"Yeah, well, I wasn't so sure for a few days."

I take his fork and take a bite of the food I made. "No meltdowns?"

"We were on the verge of one when I told her that she had to take a nap. Because she thinks she's a big girl who doesn't need a nap anymore. Well, she does because she's like me if I don't get enough sleep. She's not fun to be around when she's tired and hungry."

"Neither are you."

"Okay, we know this."

He laughs as I finish the glass. I put the glass on the table and lean back on the couch. "Terrible two's, right?"

"Yeah. And then our infant who just wants to eat and eat and eat and sleep a little bit."

"But mostly eat."

"Yeah."

He sets the empty bowl on the table before putting his arm around me. A few more months of this. All the late nights from baseball games are almost over.

September 2029

I button Brie's jersey as she stands on the couch. "Are you ready?"

"Yeah!"

"Okay. I need to get your sister in her outfit. Can you wait down here?"

"Yes, mommy."

"Okay, thank you."

I pick our six-month-old up from the floor and take her upstairs. I quickly change her diaper before getting her Yelich onesie on. I grab a navy blue bow and put it on her. She probably won't keep it on but it's worth a shot.

"Hi, pretty girl. Let's go see dad."

She squeals as I pick her up and take her downstairs. "Brielle, let's get in the car."

She gets off the couch and heads toward the door. "Are we going to see Dad?"

"Where else would we be going?"

I put Zara in her car seat as Brie gets into my car and her seat. I check her car seat before getting into the car. "Are you girls ready?"

"Yeah!"

Zara squeals again as I pull out of the driveway. It's his last regular-season game. They've already clinched a spot in the postseason. He said he wanted to make an appearance in the World Series and I think he's actually going to make it happen.
