Dani~

He's actually here. "Did you actually bring food though?" I ask as I continued to hug him.

He laughs, "Mikayla has it."

He walks in ahead of me and I stay back with Mikayla. "You don't know how much I love you."

"It was his idea," she tells me.

I probably look like an idiot right now. I'm crying because my boyfriend surprised me after having a rough day. I wipe under my eyes before following them in. Christian hands me a sandwich after taking him back to my room.

He sits on my bed, "That bad?"

I just nod. He grabs my hand and pulls me in for another hug. "Tell me everything."

I sit down next to him and get comfy around my pillows and blankets. He sits next to me, "I mean for starters, I thought today was Sunday and that I didn't have practice. So I woke up late and I didn't feel good. I didn't get to eat a good breakfast because I was rushing out the door. I had them leave without me because I was going to be late. Got there and knocked back three ibuprofen and a Midol before going out to the court where my coach has to be sassy about me showing up way later than I normally do."

"How was practice?"

"Our practices aren't easy by any means but they ripped into us today. They were just telling us that we've been lazy the last few practices which isn't a lie but I think they stretched it. We did four drills each about ten minutes long. Every error we made, counted as a minute to running. But if we made 8 errors on one drill, we didn't have to run. It would only count up to 10."

"How long did you end up running for?"

"25 minutes. We're not aerobic athletes so I thought it was ridiculous and not just because I don't like to run. But it doesn't make sense for us to run for that long when we're not constantly running around the court."

He nods. "I came back from the bathroom to save myself some decency and he thought it was so funny. So I wasn't happy with him. We did some hitting lines and I was all over the place and hitting balls way past the service line and out of bounds.  Of course, he has to say something and then I think he felt bad because I told him they my knee was hurting so he sent me home."

"How long are your practices?"

"Normally about three hours. But that's with our warm-up and cool-down."

"Does your knee still hurt?"

"Yeah. It's pretty swollen. I'm not too happy because I know all that running aggravated it. My shoulder hurts because I haven't done that much hitting since last year. I'm just in pain."

"You could've called me. I wasn't doing anything."

I shake my head, "It's okay. I didn't want to talk to anyone. I also didn't want to take the chance at me being in a mood when you didn't do anything wrong."

I gather the garbage and put it all in the plastic bag it came in. "Dani!" Lauren yells from the kitchen.

"I'll be back." I take the garbage with me and throw it away once I get into the kitchen. "Yeah?"

"Have you looked at the group chat?"

"No."

"Well, we'll just fill you in. Practice got moved to 8 tomorrow."

"Are you serious?"

They nod as Lauren slides her phone over to me."

Coach Sheffield: As a coaching staff, we have deliberately discussed and made the decision to move practice up tomorrow morning. Around noon tomorrow, a huge winter storm will be coming into the area. We don't want to risk anything with you guys so practice will be held at 8:00 am tomorrow. We're thinking only two hours tomorrow since today was a bit rough for you all. We'll discuss practice for Wednesday tomorrow.
