Christian meets me at the end of the terminal just before the security line. Yesterday was rough. I did not fly back last night like I anticipated doing even though I wanted to.
I set my large tote bag on the ground to hug him. "How was it?"
"It was fine but it sucked."
"C'mon let's go."
He grabs my bag and we walk out to his car that's parked in the cellphone lot. "So, did you all figure out who's going to have the position?"
"Yeah. From 7:30 to 11:30 last night we talked about every single one of them. I didn't leave until midnight."
Christian puts my bag in the back. "So can you tell me anything?"
"We're not supposed to. But we decided on the first lady we talked to, Kira. She's nice. Do I think she outshined the rest of them? No. But the rest of them liked her enough and I'm just the voice of an athlete."
"Why didn't you like her?"
"It's not that I didn't like her. It's just her past coaching experiences didn't end in winning seasons. Which worries me. She also looks like she's 26 so she doesn't have a lot of experience. I think we could've gone with someone else. All of them seemed way overconfident for a reputable position that I'm not sure they're going to uphold."
I take my heels off as my feet hurt. I thought I would only be there for a day and only brought these shoes. "Does the team know?"
"No. I'm going to tell them soon. I have to wait until she's notified which should be tomorrow."
"Well, I have some good news for you."
"Yeah?"
"We got the okay to move in."
I gasp, "Really?"
"Yeah. They have a few things to finish in the basement but other than that, it's a livable house. So if you're up for it, we can start doing that today."
"I am completely up for it."
"Okay."
Christian brings in another box for the kitchen. He sets it on the island. "I'm gonna go get the next load."
"Should I come?"
"If you want to. I don't think there's much more we can bring."
"I'll stay and do this."
"Okay. My mom said she might stop by while we're here."
"Okay, I'll keep an eye out for her."
He comes over and kisses me before leaving. I continue putting away our dishes and utensils. We've been back and forth between houses all day.
I stack the boxes up against the island so I can break them down later. We've left the necessities at the other house. I think we'll be fully moved in, in a couple of days which is really exciting and something I needed.
I don't know why I needed it but I did. "Anyone home?" Alecia says after opening the front door.
I smile. Home. "Kitchen!"
She comes around the corner with a brown paper bag and a bouquet. "Hi hon, how are you doing?"
"I'm good. It's starting to feel like home."
"That's good. I'm glad. Do you have vases yet? I figured these could brighten up the place."
"Yeah, let me get one down. Thank you. They're beautiful."
