Hi, I Missed You So Much.

I check on Brie as I pass her room after getting up. She usually wakes me up but it's also a bit early. I close her door quietly after I saw she was still sleeping in her crib.

I go downstairs to the kitchen. The doorbell rings as I make myself breakfast. I turn the stove down and head over to the front door.

I unlock both locks and open the door to see Dani standing there. She's got a tired smile on her face. "What are you doing? I was supposed to pick you up in a few hours," I say through the screen door.

She opens the screen door, "I don't get a 'hi, I missed you so much?'"

I hug her as she comes through the door. She lets go of her suitcase. I pick her up and bring her into the house. "How are you here so early?"

I put her down, "The team's flight left a few hours before mine so I got it switched. We flew into Chicago around 10 last night and then I flew up here. I got here around midnight."

"It's 7 though. Where did you stay?"

"My dad picked me up. I just stayed there. I didn't have my keys with me."

I hug her again. "How was it?"

We go into the kitchen, "So much fun."

"I could tell you were having fun."

"Yeah?"

"Oh, yeah. We watched the highlights every morning. She loved it."

"Where is our girl?"

"She was still sleeping. Are you hungry?"

"No, I'm tired. I think I'll get some sleep. Do you have a game?"

"6:10. I can take her in with me if you want."

"I'll only sleep a few hours."

"Okay," I hug her again, "I'm so happy you're back."

"Me too."

"Brie, let's get you dressed for the day," I tell her as she plays in the living room.

She comes over to me as I stood near the stairs. "Mama?"

"Mama's home. She's asleep though. Let's get you dressed and then you can wake her up."

"Okay!"

She climbs up the stairs and goes into her room. I put her in a pair of jean shorts and one of my shirt jerseys. I put her hair into a ponytail. "Mama?"

"Let's go see if she's awake."

I carry her into our room and set her on the bed. "See, mama's sleeping. I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you woke her up."

She crawls over to Dani and lays beside her. "Mama, wake up."

I open the blinds to let some light in. "Mama!"

She starts to crawl on top of her. That will definitely wake her up. Brie gets in her face. Dani finally shows some signs of waking up. She picks her head up, "Hi, pretty girl."

"Morning, mama!"

"Good morning, sweetie."

"Are you hungry?" I ask, standing over them.

"Yeah."

"Okay."

I leave Brie with her as I head downstairs. I move her bags next to the stairs.

Soon they both come down as I made lunch for both of them. Brie clings to Dani as she sits on one of the stools. "Sleep well?"

"Way better than I did on the plane."
