She removed her broken helmet, but in doing so, bits of broken visor that protected her eye fell to the floor as she revealed her face. She was a young woman's face wearing cracked welding goggles soaked in dry blood that was covering her bloodshot, tear-filled eyes. They looked behind her, and she was dragging the corpses of her long-dead friends, riddled with bullet holes and bayonet stab wounds.

She was in complete shell shock and denial of the horrific ordeal that ended her friends' lives, Fang and The Soldier both called off the bounty but instead helped her by treating her wounds, especially a severe one on her back that could have caused spinal damage and taking turns dragging her dead friends out of the bunker.

As they left the bunker, they could almost feel the bunker mocking them for their human weakness because they noticed some of the undead soldiers they killed on their way back to the surface were quietly laughing to themselves, or their faces were mutilated into horrific smiles.

They blamed it on their paranoid fuel imagination, so after they met up with the well-dressed man and he gave his condolences by clipping their dog tags to mark them down as deceased from fighting in the line of duty their families would be well compensated even though it doesn't change the fact they still die horrifically. The young woman had a thousand-yard stare as The undertakers loaded up her friends' dead frozen bodies onto the ferry boat to send them to their families.

As they were getting ready to go back into the bunker, the young woman handed them a severed large finger wrapped in a dirty rag. Silence wrapped around them as they realized her team was after the same bounty but was killed in the process of collecting it.

He gave the young woman a solemn nod and decided to put their mission on hold just a bit longer to take her to a makeshift bar in the camp to help her cope with her loss, he threw some cash on the table and grabbed a bottle of the local's favorite Bluebird moonshine, the strongest stuff around to push away the bad memories and thoughts most people had to deal with on the regular.

He poured her a tall glass of moonshine, and she sipped from that same glass all night until her cheeks turned red and she began to mumble about her and her dead friends' past adventures, he watched over her making sure she didn't go home with a creep in her drunken stupor and listen to her ramble on and on about her friends, their ups and their downs but more importantly their friendship.

All of a sudden she turned towards The Soldier with eyes filled with recognition, she mumbled to herself ( Hellfighter ) as she placed the glass down, and said to him ( I almost didn't recognize you, you were there when we were first recruited to fight against The Great Enemy)

( you still have that big brother energy don't you, you look out for us young recruits like me and we went our separate ways soon after, I made some friends and watched my friends die, and now we meet again it's almost as if it is destiny)

He recognized her in that instant too, she was a recent recruit, and so was he, but unlike her, he had military experience and was very battle-hard, as well, but she was a genius mechanic and inventor who came there looking for lost technology and adventure.

While He was just a war-torn Soldier looking for the same glory from his past glory days before his inescapable death calmed him; in all honesty, he was envious of her due to her desire for adventure and drive for discovery. Right then he sees himself as being selfish and short-sighted.

Before he can say a word, she passes out on his shoulder, falling into a deep slumber. His companion picks the young woman up, and they both walk to their tent; he watches as His companion places the girl in a sleeping bag and watches her as she sleeps. As he sits down on the floor, he begins to reminisce of his time during his glory days he slowly falls asleep in the corner of the tent.
