"Is she going to ignore me all night?" Mason mumbled to Declan, as everyone was chatting amongst each other. "I don't know bro" Declan mumbled back as Mason rolled his eyes, standing up from the table, giving Lacey a glance and a nod to the back door before walking off. "What's his problem?" Sasha questioned to the table. "I guess it's me, so I'll go find out" Lacey mumbled back, as she stood up from the table, grabbing her cocktail glass and walking to follow Mason out into the garden area.

"What's up?" Lacey asked as she approached Mason, who had his back to her, looking up at the stars above, it was hard to believe that it was already dark outside, but the saying was time flies when you're having fun, and Lacey truly had the best company.

"Why are you avoiding me?" Mason asks, turning around to face her, his eyes sparkling in the moonlight and the fairy lights that were lighting up the tables outside. "You think I'm ignoring you?" Lacey questioned, a smirk on her lips which disappears as she takes a sip of her drink. "Well, I haven't heard a 'hi Mase, how are you?'" He sighs, tugging a hand through his hair. "Oh, so like the conversation of 'by the way Lace, I'm going on holiday' sound familiar?" Lacey scolds back, as Mason shakes his head. "I didn't think it was important" Mason whispers, as he looks at the ground, wishing that it would now swollen him whole. "Maybe I'm being petty, but a message wouldn't of gone a miss Mace" Lacey mumbled. "I thought I meant that much at least" she finished, taking another sip of her drink. "You do mean that much Lace, I just didn't know how to tell you" Mason mumbled, looking up at her. "No, instead we took our clothes off and had sex instead" Lacey states. "It's not like that" Mason whispers, taking a step closer but his gaze landing back on his white trainers, not really sure on where to look now.

"No, that's exactly what it is Mase, we had the same conversation the night before you went on holiday, the same night we said that we didn't know what this was, that it was most likely just our own workout, they were the words you used" Lacey whispered. "It didn't matter that there was two hearts involved in this, it didn't matter if one of us fell, it was us two talking, us two having sex because it suited us" Lacey whispered, rubbing her hand down her arm. "And you know what Mace, I don't want to do this anymore, I don't want to feel the way I felt when I saw the photo of you and that girl" Lacey whispered, a shaker breath leaving her body, trying to compose herself, it was clear alcohol and her current emotions didn't mix well.

"What about me and that girl from holiday? You've just said yourself that this was nothing but sex" Mason stated, his eyes looking at Lacey's, but this time there was no spark, just brown eyes staring at her. "Because I realised that my heart was more in this than your dick in me" Lacey states bluntly. "I realised that somewhere along the lines I felt something, and I can't do that, I won't do that" Lacey muttered, taking another drink from the glass that was now nearly empty. "It's just sex though isn't it Lace" Mason mumbled, as Lacey rolled her eyes. "They were your words Mason, not mine" Lacey mutters. "Our own workout" Lacey continued.

The two adults stood looking at each other, no other words said, no other words needed. It was clear to see there was a tension, a thought crossing Masons mind of should he just hug her and tell her he was being a dick, that he didn't mean any of this and the holiday away had changed his mind on the whole idea of them just sleeping together, or did he stand there and take everything she was saying, branding himself the slut he was slowly going to become if he didn't change this.

Where as Lacey stood there, all the negative thoughts running through her mind, that this was a mistake, that everything had been a terrible mistake, that she should have declined the drinks after the game that day, made some excuse up so she could leave, so she wouldn't have the circle of friends she had now, that she could just shut herself away, so she didn't have to deal with the feelings she had no way of explaining, because although she stood here with every ounce of her body wanting to hate Mason she couldn't, there wasn't a bad bone in her body to do that. But not going to the drinks would cause her to not have the circle of friends in the room behind them that meant so much to her.

"I think" Lacey whispers, Masons eyes scanning over her. "I think, we all go tomorrow night like we had planned, we laugh, we have a good time and we enjoy the company of friends that care about us both" Lacey states, nodding her head at her own words. "But then, I think after the evenings done, I think we go out separate ways, pretend we didn't know each other in the first place" Lacey whispered, taking a deep breath in, fighting away the tears that threatened to fall.

"If that's what you want" Mason states, his voice cold, his posture off, this wasn't the Mason she enjoyed being around. Lacey nods her head, not even knowing what to say back to that, turning on her heels and going back into the room, the table that they had parted from minutes ago looking at her with eyes that were laced with sympathy, empathy, wondering, anything else that a group of people would care about you would look at you like.

"I'm going to head home, but I'll see you all tomorrow" Lacey smiled, forcing a smile anyway. "Do you want me to drive you home?" Jack questioned, as Lacey shook her head, declining his offer. "Tough shit I'm driving you home" Jack states, as he stands up from the table, kissing Sasha briefly, before walking with Lacey out of the restaurant, Lacey leaving whatever part of her heart she had on the floor in the garden.
