As Lacey walked into the small ballroom they had rented for friends and family for Lauren's birthday, Lacey couldn't help but take in the decor, the beautiful colouring of duck egg blue and silver laced around the room, the lights that were dangling by a white backdrop that changed colours where photos were being taken, some with props some just with nothing, pictures to last a life time.
"You okay?" Ben asked, as the music played quietly in the background, as Lacey nodded her head, feeling as if people were looking at her, talking about her, almost as if everything was focused on her. "I need a drink" Lacey mumbled, as she walked over to the bar, and ordered whatever would be served quickly, with ice and alcohol.
Lacey stood in a corner of the room, scanning the room for people she knew, people she could talk to or have a conversation with, but the truth was everyone was occupied. Sasha and Jack were taking couple photos by the photo booths area, Lauren was talking to her friends and family, Declan having his arm around her waist, holding her close, engaging in conversations, making the tables laugh around them.
Lacey pulled her phone out her pocket, scanning over the missed calls, the unanswered FaceTimes, the notifications from Instagram that she had been continuously tagged in, the text messages, everything hitting her like a wave all over again.
"Why are you doing that to yourself?" Mason whispered from behind her, as he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into him, holding her close to him, missing the feeling she had given him by being around. "Because life doesn't stop for anyone, and sooner or later I was going to have to look at my phone" Lacey whispered, as she sipped the clear liquid in the glass she had not long been given, and sighed. "But it's not good for your mental health" Mason mumbled, as he rested his chin on her shoulder. "I'm sorry I didn't reply" Lacey whispered, as she pulled one of his arms from her waist, and turned around to face him. "Everyone needs time" Mason stated, pushing a strand of her hair behind her ear, looking down at her. "I shouldn't push you away though" Lacey whispered, as she looked down at the ground, Mason turning her face up to look at him with his finger, shaking his head. "We all deal with things differently, as much as I wanted to be there for you, you needed space and I get that" Mason stated. "You look really beautiful tonight" Mason whispered, as he placed a kiss to her cheek, Lacey instantly feeling her cheeks heat up. "You don't look too bad either Masey" she smiled, using the nickname from her phone, making him roll his eyes, but smile none the less. "Should we go be social?" Mason questioned, as his hand found Laceys, intwining their fingers together, as Lacey shook her head. "Just a minute longer" she smiled, as she rested her head on Masons shoulder, admiring the scene of some of their friends and Lauren's family around them.

Mason wrapped his arms around Laceys waist from behind, swaying her hips with his, laughing and giggling come from around the room as Lacey relaxed into his arms. The music seemed to disappear as the group of them; Sasha and Jack dancing similar to Lacey and Mason and Ben talking to a female in the corner, but the rest of them took in the atmosphere of the party.
Mason's breathing was evident down Laceys ear, as he placed a quick kiss to her head just above her ear.
i just wanna give you the loving that your missing, baby just to wake up with you, Would be everything I need, and this could be so different
Tell me what you want to doHe mumbled down her ear, the music in the background with the song playing the lyrics he was saying down her ear. Lacey laughed to herself, and shook her head as he snuggled down into her neck, kissing the bottom of it. "Can we not get out of here" He whispers in her ear, nudging his nose against Lacey's ear. Lacey shook her head, but couldn't hide the smile on her face. "It's your best-friend's girlfriends party, you're here for a reason" Lacey smiled, as she pulled away from his grip and turn around to look at the brown eyed boy who made her stomach flutter. "Yeah, but, i'd rather spend the time with you" He mumbles, as he looks around the room, seeing that people were already leaving and calling it a night. "Ooo, don't let Rice hear you say that" Lacey chuckled, as Mason smirked towards her, making her heart feel like it was stopping in her chest.
"Thank you guys for coming, it means so much to me to see so many of my friends and family in one room" Lauren's voice comes over the microphone, a few people in the room cheer and clap, making Lauren giggle. "But, to make the party that's been planned, I would really like someone to sing" Lauren smiled, as Lacey sunk deeper into Masons chest, earning a chuckle from him. "And no it isn't Dec, i hear him enough in the shower" Lauren laughs, as Declan held a hand to his heart and pretended to be hurt, causing the room to laugh. "But, Lace, would you do the honours of singing me a song?" Lauren smiled, as Lacey shook her head smiling. "Oh come on Lace" Declan laughed, as he jumped from the little stage, and ran over to her, tugging her along with him back to the stage.
"Okay, okay" Lacey laughed, but as soon as she looked into the crowds at the table, it was like she had stage fright, wanting the ground to a swallow her whole, feeling everyone's eyes on her. "You can do this" Lauren whispers, as she passes Lacey the microphone. Lacey nodded to herself briefly, as she chose a song from her phone and let it play through the speakers.
