"You sure this is the place?" John asked carrying up some of my boxes after we finally arrived. I smiled reading the number 103. This was my home for the next year
"This is the place" I said opening the door to reveal my new dorm. It was bigger then I had anticipated
"Alright let me go grab some more boxes, you start working on what is going where" He said before leaving
Our biggest hurdle we faced was trying to explain to my dad why I had to bring all of my stuff still. We obviously couldn't tell him the real reason so John being the quick thinker her is. Sorted that problem before it progressedLeaving the door open for John to come in and out as I unpacked I heard a light knock at the door
"Hey" A small voice said, It was a short brunette standing in the doorway
"Hey" I replied confused on what was going on
"I'm your neighbour so I thought I would come and say hey" she replied offering me her hand
"My name is Mila" she smiled as I shook her hand
"I'm Natalie" I replied making her smile more
"A few of us are going to a mixer tonight to get to know everyone if you are free?" She offered. I told John I would be taking this seriously.. Is going to a party on the first night the wrong move? Classes don't start till Monday
"I'm in" I smiled right as John walked in
"In for what?" He asked raising his eyebrows at the girl in my room
"John this is Mila my neighbour, Mila this is my brother John" I said introducing the pair
"It's nice to meet you, I was just inviting your sister to my room tonight to go through the early material together? Shall we say 8?" Mila said looking at me, I loved that she saved me without even knowing she needed to
"Yeah 8 works for me" She said before nodding and escaping her lie
"She seems nice" John replied and I nodded
"Well Bug that is the last box" He said almost getting teary
"promise me you will keep in contact?" He asked and I nodded
"Let me know if you here from our parents though, the last thing we want is an emergency train ride" I replied making him chuckle
"Just go and smash this city alright?" He asked hugging me
"I love you Nat" He said
"I love you too John" I replied as we pulled away
"I'm so proud of you. Best believe I'll be at each of your shows" he smiled
"I'll get you a front row seat to everyone" I replied making him smile more before kissing my cheek
"I'm a phone call away" He mumbled
"I know I know" I chuckled as he slowly left
"Remember" He said turning back
"Ohana" He smiled. Growing up my favourite film was Lilo and Stitch so now every time John and I part ways we always say Ohana instead of goodbye
"Ohana" I smiled before he sighed closing the door behind himAfter speaking a little more to Mila I persuaded her to come over to my room to get ready with me, there were no complaints from her because apparently her roommate didn't want to come
"I don't think I know what to wear" I said looking through my wardrobe. I had no idea
"What about this?" Mila said showing me a red two piece, the last time I wore that was at my high school prom after party
"sure" I shrugged getting dressed
Mila sat on my bed scrolling through her phone as I continued to get ready
"Have you met many people?" I asked and she shrugged
"Most of the people on our floor are first years. I have a list of 3 boys that we need to steer clear of but besides that everyone seems friendly" She replied still staring at the glowing screen
"Steer clear of? Why?" I asked and she shrugged
"bad new apparently. Some of these kids have been going to schools like this their entire school life so grew up together" She reminded me. I'm glad that Mila went to public like I did, that way I'm not a complete outcast
"So how did you get into dance?" She asked and I smiled thinking back to
"my mum signed me and my sister up to baby ballet" I replied looking at her
"Ohh I loved baby ballet" She cooed as I chuckled
"Back when dance was simple for us" I laughed
"True that" she said as I stood up she finally shut off her phone
"Let go mingle" She smiled linking our arms as we set off down the corridorThe place was absolutely heaving with strangers, Mila and I made our way through the crowd until we got to a booth at the back full of other people Mila seemed to know
"guys this is Natalie, Natalie this is Kelsie, Ashley, Jess, Harry, James and Kieran" Mila said introducing us. As soon as she said the boys names I knew they were the boys we were meant to steer clear of. Remind me how we have ended up in a booth with them exactly?
"So are we all first years?" Kieran asked making us all nod
"We all know each other from school, you two are our new social experiment" Jess making me a little uncomfortable
"Where did you go?" I asked
"We went to Miss Kate's Academy" James said smirking at me
"Where are you guys from?" Ashley said using her hand to stroke down James chest. Causing his attention to shift back to her
"New York" Mila replied
"Pittsburgh" I said earning a few laughter scoffs
"That's shocking" Jess with a hint of laughter lingering on her tone
"Someone from Pittsburgh trying to make it big in the city?" James smirked
"Something like that" I replied
I checked my phone to see the time, it was already 11pm. Thank the lord tomorrow is Sunday
"Let's do what we are good at!" Jess said getting up and dragging the boys onto the dance floor followed by Mila dragging me
"Come one Pittsburgh show us what you've got" Harry said taking my hand spinning me, I chuckled lightly allowing him to spin me completelyWe all continued to dance and I couldn't help but realise why we had to steer clear of these boys now, I've seen all 3 of them work their way through 4 girls each so far before returning to Jess, Ashley and Kelsie. I won't lie, I fell bad for these girls. I know they all grew up together but the respect they have for the 3 of them is disgusting..
But who am I to judge, I'm over the moon I made in here and now I've just got to enjoy my year before fighting for the 2nd one
