chapter six: what you have caused

I NEED TO apologise. If I'm going to survive here, I need to be on everyone's good side. I have to be.

I make sure to wake up early so I can be awake before everyone else. I shower, clean up the lower floor of the house and make breakfast. One other thing I love to do is cook and I can never go wrong with breakfast. A grilled cheese especially.

 Mark loved my grilled cheeses.

I plate it up and place it on a tray along with a mug of still-hot tea. I take as many breaths as needed to control myself and finally muster up the courage to knock on his bedroom door.

"Come in."

I do as told and find him seated on the edge of his bed, tying the shoelaces on his loafers. Unsurprisingly, but still surprising me, his girlfriend is laying fast asleep on the other side.

"I made you breakfast," I say as he stands up and pulls his sweater vest down while walking towards where I'm standing.

He eyes the food I'm holding then looks up at me again. "Why?"

"I'm sorry for what I said yesterday. It was uncalled for and rude."

He stares at me till I finish. "Right. Except, I'm lactose intolerant."

He pushes past me again and walks out. "I'll be at the library downtown. Don't disturb me."

I stand there, dumbfounded and not knowing how to feel. First of all, we've got a library in this house and he knows that. Secondly, I can see the glass of half-consumed milk on his nightstand.

I shake my head at my stupidity. I shouldn't have even considered my idea in the first place. I should've known he wouldn't even care. There is absolutely nothing I could possibly do to affect him.

At least now, I feel rejuvenated and ready to start the day. I don't really have to be in the office today, but I plan on paying a visit just to see how things are going later on. That means I've got quite a bit of time on my hands. I decide to use it to explore a bit.

After setting the tray of food on his nightstand for his girlfriend to enjoy instead, I walk through the hallway of doors and another living room before reaching a set of bedrooms; Two guests' rooms and two others except for mine and what I assume to be Jae's when he potentially comes to visit and sleepover.

I open the first and the smell of cologne and strong, feminine perfume filled my nostrils. This is probably another room Taehyung and his girlfriend whose name I should probably find out share. The sound of a shower drowns out my footsteps, meaning she is most likely awake by now. It is painted a nude colour, the ceiling a coffee brown. A large, Queen-sized bed is perched at the far corner, white satin sheets, duvets and throw pillows adorning it. On the walls hang abstract paintings similar to the ones outside, but only one catches my eye.
