Chapter Forty Three: Hers To Mate

Once we got home, Mars shielded me from everyone's question's "What's going to happen now" "Why aren't you marked?" "Does this mean I can finally go to sleep?"

The last one was Lucreasia.

Fuck she's annoying. Luckily I got to my room in one piece and just fell fast asleep cuddled into Mars.

Sunlight sipping through the window burned against my skin reminding me that once again had to wake up, and live, and work and breathe.

I opened my eyes ready to be meet with a cold floor or a stone wall but I wasn't in wolf form on the ground. I was still human cuddle against Mars.

His tight grip on my waist never fading, so I decided attack him with my morning breath. I moved closer of his face ad breathed out on him.

He was awake and off me within seconds.

"What the hell was that", he grumbled getting back into bed, "Well good morning to you too", I giggled and got out of bed.

I brushed my teeth, ran my fingers through my hair till I deemed it acceptable and got dressed for breakfast with the pack.

I got out of the bathroom to find Mars had fallen back to sleep. I grabbed his ankle and pulled him off the bed. He landed in a pile of bed sheets and blankets on the floor.

"You've been asleep for months wasn't it enough", I teased him. He grumbled and stomped out of the blankets as he walked to the bathroom.

I decided to lay the bed while I waited for him to get out. He seemed acceptable enough given he still had cave man stubble on his chin. He looked so gruff it was kind of hot.

When he finished dressing we went downstairs were the rest of the pack was already waiting.

Breakfast was quaint save or a few wolves chatting among themselves. Right after I got a text from Averi saying she got the results back about what was making me sick.

I said hi to Bob and baby Night then walked into her office. She was in her white lab coat. Her blonde hair pushed back into a tight bun.

She looked very professional. Nothing like my Averi. I strolled in greeted her and sat on the little bed.

"Give it to me straight Doc is my dick going to fall off", I joked.

"Part of your brain is missing Blair", she said. I laughed and continued to do so till I realised she wasn't laughing too.

"Wait you're serious", I gapped, she simply nodded and I stared at her bewildered. "What do you mean part of my brain is missing"

"It's called the Atman Galantis, it's the part of the wolf, we call it the wolf's soul, it helps store memories", Averi said and I just kept staring at her trying to digest all the information.

What happened, was I walking and it decided to jump out like see yah later sucker.

"Are you having memories loss?" she asked and I answered, "Not that I can think off but then again how would I remember what I don't know I forgot"

"How about you're heat?" she asked.

"Come to think about it, I don't think I've ever gone into heat" all female and at times male werewolves go into heat at some point of being away from our mates for far too long.

Its nature's way of punishing us, making sure we complete the mate bond and produce more pups. It makes us strong but I've heard it can be extremely painful so I don't know if that's a good thing.

It's like a human period, you hate to have it but worry when it doesn't come.

"So what does this mean Doc?" I ask.

"It means you have to complete the mating as soon as possible", she tells me, "You need to let Mars mark you soon"

"I've seen surprising a lot of cases like this, we don't know why it's happening all we know is that currently the piece that's missing is only half and the wounds not healing, the long it stays open, you might lose all your memories or die either way we'd lose you"

"So my only options are giveaway freedom or kick it, lovely", I gritted my teeth together.

"Have these", she says handing me a bottle of pills, "They trigger the heat but it will only slow things down", Averi explained.

"As your Doctor I say do what you feel is right for you, but as your best friend I say I don't want to lose you again", she whispered the last par slowly and I wrapped my hands around her.

"You're not going to lose me Avi", I say between the hug. We both let go when baby Night wobbles in and latches onto his mama's leg.

I drive back to the pack house silently as thoughts an all that every had told me marred and faded into the sunset drop background. I was going to fix this. But for now, I had to sleep with Mars.
