Chapter Thirty Two: Hers To Fight

“He’s right you know”, my mum says suddenly appearing as I leave Mars’ room. “I’ve always know”, I confess we walk to her and dads room. I lay on her lap as she calming strokes my hair. “I have no idea what to do”, I say and she chuckles.

“You were always terrible at making decisions”, she reveals. I sit up and semi-glare at her as she holds her hands up in mock surrender but I just roll my eyes and plop back down too tired to deal with anything right now.

“You’re supposed to make me feel better not worse”, I grumble.

“You were always reluctant at making the right most important decisions”, she corrects as she continues running her fingers through my hair like she used to when I was younger and someone pissed me off. That someone was as always Mars.

It’s all the same, the room. I’m glad my mum and I are still like we used to be but yet everything else has changed.

“You know honey, you’re father and I were best friends before we were soul mates”, she says but I already knew that. My parents were perfectly mated.

They grew up together, loved each other, being soul mates just confirmed it. They’ve never fought, they always agree on everything, I get it, and they’re the best. Their love was easy, I didn’t need her to rub it in.

“I’m not rubbing it in”, she defends herself probably knowing what I was thinking. “I have no idea what you’re going through, I’ll admit that but baby you don’t have to stress yourself out so much”, she said pulling me up to sit and face her.

“No matter how long you have to take to make the right choice, I believe you’ll make the right decision”, she tells me, “The moon goddess knows the perfect endings to all our different stories so just remember when it’s right it’s right”

After our talk I go find Rohan who no surprise there is giving me the silent treatment and drags me to the pack doctors. Jokes on him I know he can’t stay mad at me forever and I was excited to see Averi bob and little night.

“Baby Night”, I squealed wrestling the three months old out of her hands the moment she opened the doors. He’d grown so big, he looked a lot like Silent Bob but with the goofiest smile on his face. Sadly I had to leave him with Rohan as we went into the little clinic room.

I still can’t believe that Averi goofy, wild, pink hair, crazy ass, cheerleader Averi is a full on badass doctor. I’m a pack warrior but even I can’t handle all those guts and dislocated body parts, no thank you. I told her what’s been going on and I awaited her professional diagnosis.

“Maybe you’re pregnant”, she said with a straight face but I knew she was chiding. I take back the whole professional thing. “I’m not pregnant” I’d be showing by now if I was, werewolf pregnancies and all.

“Maybe your body’s rejecting the blood bond”

Is she just straight up just taking guesses now? “It started before that”, I tell her and then realize, “Wait how do you know about the blood bond” I asked and she gave the -are you seriously serious- look.

“Mates monthly duh” yah that was obvious, not. Who the hell controls that magazine and how do they somehow know all our secrets.

“Anyway, I’m going to do some test, don’t want us repeating what happened last time”, she yikes. “What happened last time?”

“We couldn’t detect Noni’s human body having a werewolf child and she almost die”

“Oof”, werewolf and human mates are complicated. “We all just thought she was really loving her curbs”, Averi laughs before tying her beautiful blonde hair in a ponytail, wearing a snow white lab coat, why are those even white? And pulling the biggest effing syringe I’ve ever seen from goddess know where.

“I’m going to have to take a blood sample”, she says nonchalantly. “I hate needles”, I whine shrieking away. Claws, swords, daggers, arrows, I don’t give two shits about all that but those freaking lighter thin life needles boil my blood.

“Can you imagine unexpectedly having a little baby Mars”, Averi laughs “What a nightmare”, she says and I quickly pull forward my arm so that she can end it already.

“Done”, she said after five agonizing minutes where I almost bite my lip off. Effing needles.

Averi went to the lab to do her doctor things as I looked around the room, meddling with things I probably shouldn’t be touching till my hands found themselves with certain papers I was really supposed not to see just as Averi walked back in.

“Ave, you were planning to leave the pack”, I didn’t believe the words I was saying. Her eyes fell onto the papers I was holding but instead of getting pissed she looked more like she was ashamed.

“I can explain”, she said and I urged
her to go on.

“A while ego I’d stopped healing and given up on being a doctor, my worst fear came true when I had to call in Noni one of my best friends’ time of death and not being able to save her took its toll on me pretty badly,

Chrishiano was being the biggest dick in the world and not in a good way, everybody was already leaving red eclipse and it felt like the ground kept shifting beneath my feet and the world was falling apart”

“What made you stay”, I would leave if I was in her shoes, hell I kind of already did. But her transfer papers we’re permanent.  She’d leave Red Eclipse for good. She’d have to shed her wolf’s fur and that’s one of the most painful process a werewolf has to go through. It’s either that or bee a rogue.

“Banner, Noni and You”, she simply said. “Banner talked me out of it, Noni sure as hell would have too and I couldn’t leave you without a friend to come back to and I couldn’t leave Mars with only Harris and Jenna as moral support”, Averi explained, “Red Eclipse is my home, it’s our pack”

“That didn’t stop half the pack from leaving though”, she let out.

“Wait what do you mean half of the pack is gone”, I asked. Wolves willingly shed their fur to leave.

“We’re about three hundred or so members left, nearly the smallest pack in the kingdom”, she told me and I gaped. That’s a really low fucking alarming number.

“But how”, the alpha would have to sign off before a wolf does that or else the moon goddess might curse them or worse. We were pushing toward five thousand wolves by the time I left.

“Chrisshiano literally pushed everyone away, it’s only the old pure blood families left”, Averi said sadly.

“I kind wish you were the alpha instead”, she chided chuckling sadly but I could barely register what she was saying anymore. With the number of werewolves left, red eclipse could be on the verge of extinction.

“I have to talk to Mars”, I suddenly said getting up and walking out.

“You’re going to pick a fight aren’t you”, Averi yelled to me, “Fight, fight, fight”, she cheered and I chuckled. At least she hasn’t completely changed.

“I’m going to pick something alright” Averi’s right this is OUR pack and as its rightful Luna I’ll die before I see it go to ruins.
