[ W e d n e s d a y , 1 2 t h O c t o b e r ]Seungmin sat outside on their usual bench. Just alone this time.
Hyunjin was off with Jisung. To be exact, Felix had turned up, said two words to Hyunjin and the two had left without giving Seungmin even a glance. Seungmin could only figure that it had been about Jisung.
They -meaning Hyunjin and Jisung- hadn't seen each other since Seungmin couldn't remember how long, which was a whole drama in itself, if you'd ask Hyunjin. Seungmin didn't. Sadly he still knew every little detail about Hyunjin's and Jisung's so called "friendship". It was a mystery to Seungmin how they still weren't together.
And where Jeongin was? Seungmin had no clue either. The younger must've finally made friends other than Hyunjin and him, there was no other explanation.
So he sat there all alone on his phone to not look as lost and lonely as he was. He just had to act as if everything was exactly how he wanted it to be and it would be fine.
While mindlessly scrolling through Instagram, he fought his hunger. He'd forgotten to take food with him this morning. Initially he'd planned on stealing food from one of his friends, but that wasn't possible anymore. Yes, he could get up and actually look for Jeongin or maybe Chan and his clique, but that was a lot of work and energy that Seungmin didn't want to waste. Maybe later, he told himself while fully being aware that his first time eating today would be when he was home this afternoon.
That was until a small boy sat down next to him with a sigh. Seungmin looked up in surprise. He hadn't expected anyone coming to sit with him.
"Hey Min", the newcomer greeted with a small smile. "Hi Bin", Seungmin replied and smiled back. "What 're you doing here all alone? Where are Hyunjin and Innie?", Changbin continued to ask. "They're both busy doing other stuff", Seungmin shrugged. "It's fine though, I can be on my own too."
As if his stomach wanted to underline his message it growled. With the only difference that it wasn't a big help in showing how independent he was.
"I can see that", Changbin laughed and then offered Seungmin a lunchbox. "Take some, my roommate made them."
The box was filled with small dumplings. Seungmin grabbed one, gave Changbin a thanking look and ate it. They were really good.
Changbin seemed to notice that, because he smiled and offered the box again. "You can have 'em. I had enough already." "Are you sure? I don't want to be taking anything from you", Seungmin said in surprise. "No, no, it's really fine. Don't worry. We have tons of them at home. My roommate tends to exaggerate", Changbin grinned and Seungmin shyly grabbed the box.
"What are you doing here anyways? If I remember correctly, you don't have any afternoon classes", Seungmin asked in between the bites. "You remember correctly", Changbin smiled proudly. "I was going to go in the city with Woo and some other friends, but decided to accompany you instead when I saw you sitting here all alone." "What!?", Seungmin eyes widened in surprise. "What what?", Changbin asked innocently. Seungmin shook his head in disbelief. "You're unbelievable", he tried to hand the box to the other, "go and have fun with your friends. Don't waste your time here with me." "Oh that. It's fine, I already told that I'll be joining them later on", Changbin shrugged. "Later on is now", Seungmin stayed determined. Changbin only shook his head and pushed the box away from him, back to Seungmin. "I'd rather just stay here with you", he stated, showing that there was no way for Seungmin to change his mind. Then Seungmin realised what Changbin just said, making his blood rush into his cheeks. Hurriedly he grabbed the box again and turned away to hide his embarrassment.
Sometimes he hated Changbin.
Or maybe he just hated what Changbin did to him. He hated how he would get all shy around the older without even knowing why. He hated how he would get red like a tomato just because Changbin said some stupid stuff. He hated how Changbin was able to see right through him. And most importantly, he hated the weird and unfamiliar feeling that always appeared when Changbin was around.
No, no, he just really hated Changbin most of the times.
Just like right now. Changbin had started hugging Seungmin from behind out of nowhere. The shorter's leg were placed right next to his own, Changbin's hands were meeting in front of Seungmin's stomach, lightly touching the area around his belly button every now and then and his head was resting on Seungmin's shoulder. Why he had decided to do this so randomly? Seungmin had no clue, but it was most definitely too much to handle.
He just continued to stare at the food in hands, suddenly feeling no appetite whatsoever. His stomach was busy doing backflips. If he had thought that he couldn't get any redder before, he now knew that he'd been more than wrong. Seungmin didn't even want to know how red his head was.
"Aww our MinMin is shyyy", Changbin teased. "Not funny hyung", Seungmin responded silently. "No you're right, this is pretty hilarious", Changbin continued to tease. Seungmin couldn't help but roll his eyes at his hyung.
The two of them had been good friends through social media, texting almost every day and FaceTiming each regularly ever since they first met. In school they were barely able to see each other because of very different timetables and them being in different grades. That was why Seungmin had absolutely no clue about Changbin's touchy side. It -meaning Changbin's touchy side- wasn't a bad thing. No, Changbin was an incredible hugger. It was just ... unexpected.
The bell rang in the distance and sighed. He had to go.
He'd never admit this to Changbin, but he would've liked staying in his arms forever. It just felt safe. Like home.
He freed himself from Changbin's arms, got up and grabbed his bag. When he turned back around to say goodbye, he found a sulking Changbin. "What?" "Want hug", Changbin whined in a tone that could've been from a baby. Sighing Seungmin kneeled down again to hug the older one more time. After a few moments Seungmin let go again, only to feel his hand being grabbed by Changbin.
"Seungmin", he said firmly. "I think we're soulmates." And before Seungmin could react in any way Changbin had embraced him once again.
Questions were now flooding Seungmin's mind. How did Changbin know? Was there any evidence? What did Changbin see in his triggers to be as certain as he was?
When he wanted to express them, Changbin was already gone. How did he not notice that?
Seungmin wasn't sure whether or not it was really true. His own vision hadn't been giving many clues. He did know that his soulmate was a presenting man and shorter than him, but that was about it. It could've been literally anybody.
Shaking his head he got up. He had to get to class. He was probably more than late. What would he tell the teacher? What would he tell Hyunjin?
Oh boy, sometimes he really hated Changbin.
