"Who are you talking to Sara?" Sara kept still, her eyes locked on Fred's, she knew that voice well, too well. Even though the person standing behind Sara couldn't see Fred, he didn't dare to move. "Sara?" Faking a smile, the brunette turned around smiling.
"George! What are you doing here?" she asked, her voice coming out a tone higher than normal. George's left eyebrow arched.
"Um, well, maybe you forgot, but I live here, with you" Sara faked a laugh.
"Oh yes, I know that you silly! I meant, what are you doing here now? Why aren't you working down at the shop?" How the fuck could she manage her voice to go back to normal?
"I just closed up"
"Oh" George moved from the door frame into the flat, walking around the couch where Sara and Fred were sitting and sat across from them on the floor. Sara gave Fred a quick look, the redhead kept staring back at her, a hint of worry on his brown eyes. "So, are you going to tell me who are you talking to?" Sara tried to look surprised, not very successfully.
"What? What makes you think I was talking to somebody?"
"I heard you" the younger twin replied flatly.
"Oh" Sara looked down at her hands, she could feel the tiny drops of sweat form on her palms "I was just talking to myself" she lied. Now it was George's turn to look surprised, truthfully.
"That's not true" he said.
"What?"
"You heard me, I know you're lying"
"I'm not" the brunette argued, trying to look offended.
"Oh, Sara for Merlin's sake, I know you too well, and you're lying through your teeth. Who were you talking to? Please tell me something that does not make me think you're completely mental because you were completely alone in here" George told her while putting his hands back and, on the floor, supporting himself on them.
Sara knew there was no way she could lie to George, as he had said, he knew her too well. And who was she kidding? She couldn't lie to save her life. Her hand went up to the back of her neck nervously, and she looked to her side to Fred. A knowing look passed between them. Fred nodded. Sara looked back at George, who was smiling and waiting patiently. He seemed awfully calm for someone who had just caught a friend talking to thin air. The woman took a deep breath in an attempt to calm her nerves.
"Georgie" she said softly "Please try to open your mind, okay? Please try to not immediately reject the possibility that, what I'm about to tell you, could actually be true" A look of worry passed through George's eyes, and he leaned forward.
"What are you talking about Sara?" The girl took a deep breath again.
"I was speaking with Fred" she whispered. George looked at her for a moment, trying to actually understand the words that had just come out of her mouth.
"That's not funny" he said standing up and walking to the kitchen. Sara also stood up to follow him.
"Oh fuck" Fred whispered to himself.
"What?" the younger twin stopped and turned around to look at her.
"Do you think it's funny to joke about that?" he asked her "Do you think it's funny to joke about my dead brother?!"
"What? I'm not joking! How could you even think I could joke about something like this?!"
"Well, that's the only explanation I've got! That, or that you're completely mental" Sara's blue eyes filled up with tears.
