"By the way, Tae" P'Paris came closer and whispered, distracting me from my thought process. "Your cousin is resting in one of the guest bedrooms. I sent Manu to wake him up for tea but he's already fast asleep."

"That's okay, Phi." I smiled. "I woke him up too early this morning to drag him here. After all, we just got back from America. I bet he was tired."

"Yes, yes.... It's best to let him rest then." P'Paris patted my shoulder.

Besides, Jazz's distraction is currently prowling the forest, on duty, protecting the manor. No wonder Jazz was bored.

"Okay, Bas. Solve this last problem and then you can have tea." P'Mel tapped Bas's book with a ruler.

Bas huffed and pouted.

"Oh, come on, Mel!" Ji swiftly unbuckled the leather belt around her waist and dropped it on the table, which I observed to be a knife holster with different types of sharp daggers and throwing knives. Tee did mention that she's one of the Piniwat Capos. "Let him loose this one evening. Let him enjoy a little." She coaxed her older sister while Bas directed puppy dog eyes at his aunt.

"He wasted too much time in the stream today," P'Mel looked at P'Paris as if asking her support. "This is his punishment for skipping my math test."

P'Paris simply directed a fond smile at the kid and reached to run his fingers through the unruly dark hair.

"It's just one test. You would ace it the next day, right kiddo?" Ji nudged Bas and the kid nodded his head quickly, agreeing.

"Fine..." P'Mel sighed giving in, collected her papers, and cleared the table. "Please take these things off the table, Ji." She threw an apprehensive look towards the leather holster full of sharp weapons. "We have a child and a guest in here."

"I'm sure P'Tae had seen far deadlier weapons than throwing knives, Mel." Ji smirked, taking her leather kit and placing it aside anyway. "And Bas is hardly a kid," She ruffled Bas' hair affectionately. "He's already best at the dagger."

"At least, it's better than Muay Thai." Tee spoke for the first time after a while. I guess his embarrassment is forgotten now. "Less brutal." He shuddered inching closer to me. I've heard that Muay Thai is a dangerous sport, people end up hurt frequently. P'Kamnan's little son looked too precious for that.

"I love Muay Thai." Bas sighed, turning his head around to look over the window behind him. It had a direct view of the terrace we earlier crossed – must be how Ji caught Tee and me trying to sneak up – where a bunch of Muay Thai fighters were at a friendly sparring match. Their sweat-soaked bodies glistened in the day's last remnant sunlight. I guess they have already done patrolling the perimeter. "Too bad it's not my strength." The kid sighed wishfully, eyes still trained on the fighters.

"Do you think the dagger is your strength then?" I asked the kid curiously. He turned around to look at me yet stole another glance at the terrace.
