Christmas break had come and gone by quickly after the season ended with Lewis and Mercedes falling short of successfully defending their title by very little points. It was extremely painful to say the least but the break had given everyone some reason to cheer up and get over it.
Lewis and I had spent the break with my grandparents in Spain while the New Year would be spent at his moms'.
We left for London in his private jet on the 30th and arrived Heathrow later that day. I went ahead of him with my handbag to clear at immigration and quickly reached the car waiting for us. This was normal procedure since we still decided to keep the relationship under the radar. He later got in and the driver zoomed off to his moms' house.
"My favorite babies are here", Mrs. Lockhart screamed.
"I will be 26 in a few days' mom, I'm no baby", Lewis said laughing.
She pulled us both into a hug.
"Seasons' greetings Mrs. Lockhart", I said to her.
"Oh stop that, please call me Carmen", she cheerfully said.
She helped us with some of our luggage as we moved further into the house.
"Let me lead you to your rooms children", she said loudly causing Lewis and I to look at each other.
"What did you just say mum", he asked coughing.
"You didn't think both of you will stay together in the same room did you?", she asked raising one eyebrow and subsequently ending it with a laugh.
"Your rooms are pretty close though, but my room is in between", she added.
"We were both surprised and Lewis didn't look pleased. There was nothing he could do. It would mean us having to sneak around to get some time alone. He could read what I was thinking in my eyes. We had gotten here and would be here for a couple of days so the earlier we got used to it the better for us.
"Thank you Carmen", I said in a bid to make her feel we were okay with what she had planned.
His step sisters and stepdad were spending the holidays with their grandparents.
I got in and sat on the bed looking round the spacious room. Lunch was going to be served by 2pm but I intended to catch some sleep before then.
The sound of my phone ringing woke me up.
"Hey babe, lunch is in 10, are you ready for us to go downstairs?", he asked me.
"Give me a minute Lew, I'll be out in a bit", I said to him. "Where you at?", I asked him. "Just outside your room Sel", he said to me and cut the call.
Lewis and I walked down the stairs and headed to the dining room for lunch with me wearing a thick sweater and leggings. We were both hungry as we had only eaten light earlier that day. Carmen was sat at the head of the table while Lewis and I were seated on her left and right side.
It didn't take long for us to dig into Carmen's dishes. The aroma was almost filling thereby causing us to eat much.
"I'm glad you liked it Selena", she said to me.
"You need to teach me how to prepare the Shepherds pie, Lewis kept talking about this particular dish and how you had a secret twist recipe for it, I would be glad if I can learn so I can make it for him some other time", I said laughing.
"Certainly darling", Carmen said to me.
We continued to talk while until Lewis coughed and said, "It seems Selena has taken over my position, she has taken over you mom, look how you're engrossed in what y'all saying?", he said laughing hysterically and causing Carmen and I laugh as well.
