CHAPTER FOURTEEN

The first three outings for Mercedes in the new season were brilliant with Lewis and Bottas scoring P1 and P3 respectively while Red Bull's Verstappen scored P2 in both. It was a good head start for Mercedes.

Selena's 23rd birthday which was a day before the first free practice at the Grand Prix in Portugal had been celebrated by the team at their dinner. She received gifts from teammates and calls from friends she had made during modelling gigs as well as her lover Lewis.

The birthday signified the beginning of the last year in her five-year contract with Mercedes and plans were already in motion to renew it for another five-year period. There had been discussions with Paul, Carrie and Toto about some changes they wanted to add to the terms of the contract especially the wages and by this time she and Lewis had been dating for a year and three months".

Lewis schedule this season was going to be extremely busy as it was filled with many endorsements aside motorsport and meant fewer times alone with his girlfriend. Selena equally was engaged in many top modelling events as her demand increased. They had to find a way to work it out.

LEWIS POV

After the first free practice session the next morning, many of the drivers were just hanging around the paddock with each other and discussing amongst other things. McLaren's Lando had come to meet Valtteri and were having a chat when Selena walked by them. I was seated near the screens with my water bottle watching the remaining practices on the circuit.

"Hey Selena, come here please, I want you to meet someone", Valtteri said.

I turned my head and looked at them.

"Hi Val, whats up?" she said.

"This is Lando, he was asking who you were and I told him, he just wanted to say hi", Valtteri said.

"Hi Selena", Lando said and a blush crept up on his face.

"Hi Lando", Selena said and shook his arm.

But Lando didn't release it. Valtteri ended up excusing himself from their midst while Lando and Selena continued their conversation. My blood seemed to boil as I watched them. Valtteri had set her up with Lando. This was one of the major reasons why I wanted to acknowledge our relationship in public.

I took a long sip of water from my bottle when I saw Lando bringing out his phone. They exchanged numbers.

Angela walked up to me and took a seat.

"You're upset aren't you", she asked.

"You don't expect her not to give Lando her number, it would have been very rude", she added.

"She could have declined giving him, I'm here for god's sake', I said to her.

"I get it Lewis but you guys will be fine", Angela said to me.

I shook my head.

Selena had walked to where we were seated after her meeting with Lando and smiled as she sat facing me. I couldn't even hide my annoyance with Angela present.

"Hi Lew", she said to me.

"Hi Selena", I responded.

She tried starting a conversation with me but I wasn't having it.

"What?", she asked.

"You shouldn't be asking me that, you had been with Lando while I was seated here, you knew I was here when you gave him your number", I said to her.

Angela interrupted, "I'll see you guys later, but you two should know that here is not the place", she said and walked away.

"Baby I couldn't just say no to him at that moment, but I understand the way you feel and I'm sorry', she said to me.
