CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO

Lewis and the Mercs had won the Qatar GP tying him and Charles on points as they entered the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix but for the last two races the two rivals did not score a podium finish causing Verstappen to win the Driver's Championship as well and Red Bull the Constructors championship. The two rivals knew they needed to re-strategize and re-organize their games and let their personal problems out of the circuit for things to move forward positively.

It was already over a week after the last race and Lewis had helped Selena in moving most of her belongings to his house in London as they had decided to live together. The pair had become closer than they had ever been and enjoyed each other's company through the holidays.

Toto had come over the next day to speak with Selena physically before Mercedes initiated her buyout clause to Ferrari. He wanted to be completely sure she was willing to return to Mercedes even though everyone of the team already wanted her back.

"Welcome Toto", Lewis said to Toto as he opened the door. He had been expecting his team principal turned close friend and brother for the past hour but the London traffic didn't help.

"Thank you Lewis", he responded as he moved to take a sit.

"Hi Toto', Selena said as she strolled from the kitchen with a bottle of water in hand. She looked happy as she couldn't wait to view the offer from Mercedes.

Toto didn't waste time and crouched down to her level as she had taken a sit on one of the couches beside Lewis and said "Selena, I know you love Lewis and you guys worked perfectly as a team when you were with us, now the both of you are back together, this is Mercedes way of remedying what happened in the past and making things easier in your relationship although I must say it will also favour Lewis in his quest for another World title, I know you were never happy in Ferrari, I know the segregation you suffered and I know every other thing that happened, you never took out your 'Loyalty' tattoo meaning you were always a Merc at heart, we loved you and still do and will be happy for you to come back to us".

"How did you know about my time in Ferrari?", she curiously asked him.

"I have my sources and they are never wrong", Toto replied her.

"So will you be willing to join us again while our legal team handles your transfer from Ferrari back to us today?", Toto asked.

'I am more than willing Toto", she said and Lewis who was seated beside her and holding her hands kissed them and also placed a light kiss to her lips.

"Easy Lewis, you have the rest of the day after I leave", he said as they all burst into laughter.

As expected there was a ruckus online the moment the documents were received by Ferrari and the FIA were immediately informed. Emergency virtual meetings between Mercedes and Ferrari were held with Selena inclusive but the FIA did not see any clause to stop Selena's move back to Mercedes. Ferrari's management were completely outraged about the outcome of the meeting and made speculations about the FIA constantly dancing to Mercedes' tune. They were fined $250,000 for the statement released online and eventually apologized for the statement and wished Selena well in her new job.
