CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

LEWIS POV

By the break of dawn, my eyes were extremely puffy from lack of sleep and I still felt bitter. I wept almost every time I remembered it had all come crashing down. Angela had stayed over in the guest room for the night in an attempt to watch me, however she informed the Team Principal Toto about the recent turn of events.

Mrs. Theresa had brought breakfast but I had a metallic taste in my mouth almost like I was ill. Roscoe and Coco who were very active dogs appeared to sense my moods and weren't as cheerful. I was a complete mess and I still had the Hungarian Grand Prix in five days.

Toto was due to arrive soon and I had decided what demands I wanted to make from Mercedes. My feet kept tapping the marble floor as I impatiently waited for him but in another ten minutes he was here.

"Hello Lewis", he said to me and came over to give me a hug.

"Hi Toto", I plainly said.

"Angela told me everything that had happened, you know Susie and I are fond of Selena and love her like our own child so we believe your assumptions might be wrong Lewis, I have seen the pictures but there was none where she was actually kissing the guy in them, Selena is not the kind of person that will be unfaithful, I suggest we call another private investigator to give a second opinion, he would do a thorough background check on the Sullivan dude then you can make a decision.

"I'm not going to work with Selena anymore", I said to him.

"What? Do you know what that means Lewis? you want Mercedes to terminate her contract?", Toto asked in shock.

"It's either that or I leave", I said and walked over the window.

Toto was dumbfounded because I didn't hear him speak for a long time. Then he walked up to me.

"Lewis, are you really sure this is what you want? you loved that girl, even if she cheated on you which I highly doubt, we can still find a common ground for work to go on, it might not be easy but it's achievable, what if this leaks to the press?", he asked me.

"It won't, Mercedes can manage it, nobody knew there was a relationship in the first place so it shouldn't be an issue", I said with no emotion.

"You seem to have thought this over right? but I think it's still completely unfair, do you know what would happen if our competitors get wind of her availability and employ her, she's a tool goddammit Lewis, let's be sincere", he explained.

"I don't care Toto, I have made up my mind", I replied.

He heaved a heavy sigh.

"I will inform the Board and set up an emergency meeting in Brackley tomorrow", he said to me and left the house.

SELENA POV

My cries filled the whole night and caused me to be extremely exhausted. I had not slept well. Even when sleep came it was brief. The worst had happened and it seemed my day could not get any worse than it already was, not until I heard my mail notification and realized a mail had earlier been sent to me.

I carefully read the mail and noticed I was summoned to a meeting in Brackley by 2pm today Tuesday with the Mercedes Board of Directors regarding my contract with them. It was easy for me to figure out the reason for the meeting and I guessed Lewis probably didn't want to work with me anymore. I tried calling Toto twice but he didn't pick up. I called Susie but she was at an event and promised to call back. Then Carrie from the Legal department called me.
