CHAPTER FIVE

It didn't take long for me to get ready for work. A black pair of straight cut jeans, white long-sleeved shirt and nude pumps was my ensemble for the day. I had cereal and pancakes for breakfast so I wouldn't feel the need to eat early at my new office. I quickly got into my car when I was done and drove to work which was just seven minutes away. Lucille saw me and waved me over as I walked in.

"Good morning Selena, how are you today?", she said with a smile on her face.

"Morning Lucille", I responded. "I'm good", I added.

'You will be taken to the waiting room in the IT department by Abraham where you will get to pick up the items needed to start work". "There's a general meeting which we always have on Mondays' by 9am after any race at the conference room, so you will be all set up before then", she added.

Before I was able to say thank you Abraham was in my view. We exchanged pleasantries then said goodbye to Lucille. I got to the waiting room and was met immediately by a colleague.

"Hello Selena I'm John Bellingham, it's nice to meet you", he said.

"The pleasure is all mine", I responded.

"So your work email has been set up on your assigned laptop", he said. "Here's your Identification card which doubles as an access card, we will also take your thumb print which you will use to access restricted areas", he added. "Your account details will be set up by the Finance department but you need get to their floor to sign the account opening form"

After I collected the items needed for work along with my office mobile line, he accompanied me to my workstation in the Race department. There were only three people available at the time when I got there and I introduced myself.

"Hello I'm Selena Reiss", I said politely to the three people in the office space.

"Hello", they said together.

"You are the new data analyst we have been expecting right", one of the men said.

I nodded in response to his question.

"I'm Joe Miller, call me Joe", he said. He seemed to be the youngest. The other two just mentioned their names as Edward and Luigi. "The team will soon be here'. "Your desk has been set up, and I'm certain you will be introduced at the general meeting", he added.

"Thanks guys", I said as I dropped my items on the space allocated to me situated in a nice corner. It had a desk, a swivel chair, a waste bin, a printer and charging port already around the table. There was a small chair by the left side for my handbag.

I quickly set the laptop on the table and checked my mails. Paul had sent me a welcome mail as well as Carrie and I responded to both. People started walking in quickly to drop their stuff.

Joe then walked up to me and said, "The meeting will start in five minutes, let's go together to secure good seats".

"Sure, let me get my phone and id then I'll be set to go", I replied.

We walked together occasionally hearing hellos from people around till we got to the conference room and got seats.

People gradually filled the room and I noticed Paul and Carrie walk in. They took their seats in the front row. Lewis Hamilton, his personal assistant and Toto Wolf walked in together too equally taking seats in the front. The second driver Valterri Bottas also walked in too and some other members of the Race team.

The meeting started and after about fifteen minutes talking about the last terrible outing at the Monaco Grand prix, Paul then got up to make some announcements.
