Derrik stopped the car further downtown and sat in a nearly abandoned parking lot as Scarlett hid her face in her hands. Without a word, Derrik took her by her hands and brought him to her. Taking her hands caused her to look up at him. He rubbed away her running makeup and tears before hugging her. This caused her to just fall apart completely. Tears poured down her face-also staining his shirt sodden.
"It's all going to be alright..." He said in his deep voice. She soon discovered something.
She pulled away from him. "Your accent-"
"I'm sorry...I do not have one..." He said with a now completely normal American accent. It took her by surprise.
"Why did you pretend?" She said, her crying now ceased greatly.
He closed his eyes.
"What is it? Please just tell me the truth."
He saw the desperation for honesty in her eyes and confessed. Something that made her uneasy and unsure of her exact feelings.
"Julian is my brother..." He began. "Step...but I did know him..."
"That's how you knew he was a teacher..." She realized aloud.
He nodded. "I thought it would make it easy to assume I didn't know him I guess...I'm not sure...Just seeing you...I just..."
"What?"
"I know how he is..."
"You do?" She said a slight amount of guilt removed from her.
"I know what he wants and that is no way to treat a lady. Especially one pure, one that deserves flowers and the world..."
"You don't know me..." She said shaking her head, now drying her cheeks.
"I want to..." He said with a smirk.
And in that moment, she found herself torn between the gentleman and the snake. Although she enjoyed the gentleman type, the snake was oh so tempting.
